Skin Rash from drooling
I read all the topics about a skin rash caused by the mask, but I am thinking my rash is caused by drooling and the mask. I am a mouth breather so I drool when I sleep. I drool even without the mask, but with the mask , lately the rash is worse, and burns like a sun burn. Does any one have ideas on how to treat it ?

It sounds like a doctor's visit is in order. Perhaps a different mask would work better too.

Don't worry about it. You'll grow out of it. The kid next door did when he went through puberty. When you lose the drool you get 'blech' on your mask which is much worse. Stick with the drool. Seriously, I don't have an answer. You are stuck between a rock and a hard place and medical intervention is the only thing I can suggest. You walk a fine line between dry mouth and too much saliva and drooling. I seem to go back and forth during the night resulting in the terrible 'blech' on the mask that needs to be removed with green wipes in the morning. Just be glad you don't have sinus issues.... I am dependant on my humidifier to keep things open and draining but I hate the hot warm air. Like they say, stuck between a rock and a hard place. See the MD; he may likely have a solution. Just avoid the blech whatever you do. Trust me, in order of preference I would rate drool at the top, then sinus issues, and least desirable would be the terrible blech that I have been reporting on. So if you have just drool consider yourself fortunate. You can always cut a small flap in the bottom of your mask to let it out.wheresmybook wrote:I read all the topics about a skin rash caused by the mask, but I am thinking my rash is caused by drooling and the mask. As far as the rash is concerned I would go with that stuff they slather on a baby's ass. It worked here for two of them (now they need Polysporin for blisters from the gym. Again consider yourself lucky.... polysporin tastes awful. And stay away from the suppositories cuz they taste awful as well. And for all the good they do.....

You don't list which ffm you use. If you tried remzzz, the cotton of the remzzz would sop up some of that drool and not end up burning your skin. Try making a remzzz, use old, well washed cotton, lay your mask on it, draw around it adding about half an inch extra all round, cut it out, plus cut a hole for your nose and you've got it. It worked for my quattro, I made a bunch of them and they are washable.
Good luck

Simple. It is a new term for what is left after you drool into your mask or onto your lower lip/chin and it dries up because you also mouth breath at times. You wind up with dried drool on your tongue and your chin. That is the dreaded "blech" and is to be avoided at all costs. I have taken to slathering on that stuff they use on baby's butts to make it easier to get off in the morning and to prevent irritation. The only problem is that my wife keeps wanting to diaper my face for some reason. I hope it's the 'blech'.slapmeawake wrote:Sorry but what is Blech????
