Re: No longer need CPAP

I did not say it was not possible for this surgery to help with sleep apnea and I am sure it helps with many other conditions as well. But with conditions such as diabetes, you would check your blood sugar, etc and you would have quantitative information to support that you no longer had diabetes or...

Re: No longer need CPAP

You had a sleep study to confirm this? Just curious.

Re: Doctors reactions to male vs. female complaints

I believe this is completely true. I went to a rheumatologist because of joint pain that had gone on for six months. I had been referred by my PCP. He spent two minutes looking at me, said there was nothing wrong, that we "sometimes have pain as we age, and that the medically untrained are always lo...

Re: New Mask Time! -- Mirage SoftGel Size?

Can't comment on the size issue, I wear a small, but the SoftGel is very comfortable and cushy. I have not noticed it getting stretchier or softer though.

Re: When The Power Goes Off.....

Now I know that my Respironics ComfortGel FFM has a valve that automatically opens when air pressure stops. You can see it open and close. I have not looked at my Resmed because I don't use it very often. I more often use a nasal mask, so I don't worry too much about that--my mouth will open if I am...

Re: Reminder: Sleep Apnea Not Limited to Obese Patients

Wow, very interesting! I had four of my bottom teeth removed before I got my braces because there was just no room for them, then later after the braces had come off, had my wisdom teeth out because they were going to push all of my teeth out of whack as they came in. My Sleep Doc said I could stand...

Re: How did YOU Resolve Your Mouth-Leaks? (poll)

I use NextCare gentle paper tape, small vertical strips at the corners of my mouth (one corner seems to leak more than the other and the extra tension from the vertical strip helps keep them closed) and a horizontal strip across my mouth over that, ends folded under. This has worked well for me for ...

Re: Spouse's Reactions

My husband loves my CPAP. Not only do I no longer snore him out of the bedroom, he doesn't worry anymore about my breathing at night--it used to worry him quite a bit and he would sit up and watch me sleep. As an added plus, I am not falling asleep at 7 p.m. anymore, I can stay awake to see a movie ...

Re: TV in Bedroom Poll

We don't have a TV in the bedroom and I never allowed our children to have one either (they are now 18 and 21, in college and living at home and still don't have one in their bedrooms --it is their choice now not to have one ). We do have one in our living area, but we turned our cable/satellite off...
