Looking for a back wedge

Post by park_ridge_dave » Wed Apr 14, 2010 10:18 am

I was at my hip doctor today for my yearly "service" call (I should get a "zerk" fitting installed so I could just shoot in a shot of lube and be done with it)

Anyway, when they were taking my x-rays, they used a foam wedge to keep me from turning back over onto my back.

I was struck by the idea that here was a device that could comfortably keep me from lying on my back.

It was high density foam and I asked the tech where I could order one and she didn't have any idea.

So, fellow c-pappers, anybody know here I could get one?

It was really comfortable It was bigger than the head "wedge pillows" I have seen.

Cheers,

Dave

I use http://www.pur-sleep.com/products/prodD ... rch=&page= pillow for my back. It is heavy and does not move.

If that one doesn't work, try looking where they sell massage supplies. Massage studios are the only place I've seen them.

Do you have a foam shop in your city? They usually sell foam mattresses, and foam for furniture or RV's. Ours is willing to cut to whatever size, and charge according to the density of foam, and by the square foot.

This is the one we used, when we lived in Seattle:

try http://www.sammonspreston.com and search wedge. they have everything so it may take a minute to find the exact one but they probably have it. Their prices are pretty reasonable also. They sell to the public at a small percentage higher than they sell to dealers.

Great idea, Katie Thanks a heap!

I'll find out what's available around here.

Excellent imagery with the zerk fitting... Call me extremely dull -- are you saying you have a hip replacement and they have to lube the joint every year, or are you making a reference to something else? Just checking. I don't know much about hip replacement.

I have a hip replacement ( and two artificial knees for that matter) and that was just my attempt at "graveyard" humor. I have the oversized Titanium ball and socket replacement. The artificial joint is "lubricated" as I understand it by bodily fluids (I don't want to know ). Anyway it is "permanently" lubricated. Those of us old enough to remember, remember a time when joints on your car had to be lubricated every so many miles. When they came out with permanently lubricated joints some people didn't trust them and had them drilled and tapped for grease fittings (trade name Zerk).

Sorry I am getting old I guess (and as Martha Stewart would say, "That's a Good Thing" )

Hope that clears it up?

Cheers, Dave

It was similar but the wedge was about 45 degrees (right and left) and it was longer to fit along the spine. The cushion that you sent the link to is intended (I think) for raising the head to help gerd etc.

I think I have a line on one and if I get it I'll post on the forum.

Thanks & Cheers,

Dave

I got my wedge pillows from http://www.mileskimball.com. The price I just saw was cheaper than even wallyworld's.
