Are DMEs obligated to find a mask that works for a patient?

Are DMEs obligated to find a mask that works for a patient? For example, the DME sets up a patient with nasal pillows and then the doctor decides the patient is mouth breathing, and they need a full face mask. The DME tries them on a FF mask or two and neither work (nose bridge problems, hypothetica...

Re: Mask problems... need help

For some reason my doctor didn't want me to use the Liberty, and I assumed that applied to any hybrid. Not sure why, except she had no luck with it. Try the RespCare Hybrid FFM, covers the mouth and has pillows. It'll take care of the mouth leaking and provide the comfort of pillows and yes, you can...

Re: Nose bridge raw

I posted a thread about this same issue: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47618&p=431628#p431628 Goose, are you saying that the straps don't keep the mask from leaking? If I put the straps on loosely, the air blows through the sides and top of mask. It may be true that the top strap doesn...

Re: Mask problems... need help

How exactly do you adjust it to "float on your face" without it leaking? I watched the Resmed fitting video again, and I tried for hours last night, with both a medium and a large Quattro (the medium is the one that left a welt, and it probably is the more appropriate fit, but I was hoping the large...

Re: Mask problems... need help

Sorry about the lack of info and my confusing post. I am using the PR System One Auto. I was using it as an Auto-Pap, but lately have switched to CPAP, on a pressure of 8. I was switched to the Oracle because of my bridge of the nose issues with full face masks. When I said my cheeks were puffing ou...

Mask problems... need help

I am new to CPAP (I will post my story at some point soon). I have tried pillows, full-face, and now the Oracle. I have been trying to use the Oracle for several nights and am finding it impossible to fall asleep due to a sensation that is difficult to explain. It almost feels like an influx of air,...

How can I try masks?

How do people get to try various masks to find the "right" one? My DME stocks 1 or 2 full face masks, and that's it. Every place that I have access to stocks 1 or 2, and one of them is always the Quattro, so that basically I have no avenue for trying much more than that in a full face mask. Also, ev...

How did you get the DME to provide you with all those masks to try? My DME stocks 1 or 2 full face masks, and that's it. Re: Protection of Bridge of Nose - New Product

Y REM, are there any other nose bridge products/techniques that your patients have had success with? Thanks.

Re: Protection of Bridge of Nose - New Product

I have been using the Comfort Care pad with the Quattro. Re: leaks: I find that I have to seat and reseat the mask many times to avoid leaks (same problem I had before using it, possibly worse). But eventually it does seem to seal, although perhaps I have to keep it too tight to avoid the leaks. Re:...
