Re: Score sleep studies in India
I use a system sorta like this in my sleep lab. After the study in the am, I upload the study to the company ( Mays and Associates, inc) it gets scored by RPSGTS, then off to a board certified sleep doctor. I then get the results in 2-3 days. My competitors have their results ready in 2-3 weeks! We ...

Re: better machine for centrals?
Ive used the auto SV in the lab for centrals and have had good luck. Like someone mentioned we have to prove that CPAP and Bi-level do not work. This can be done easily in one night if the sleep tech isnt lazy. Alot of insurances will rent the machine for a few months, make sure you like it and its ...

Re: Taking My Mask Off While Sleeping
I have done this several times as well. As a sleep tech I let each Patient know that this will happen, and my reasoning is this- the brain doesnt know what the heck that thing is and doesnt like it, so you take it off. But after a coouple weeks and you start to feel better the brain really likes tha...

Try the FitLife by Resperonics. This fits the entire face just like the SCBA. I sometimes use this mask when my nose gets too sore from my Quatrro. Let me know if you try it and how it works. I am an EMT as well as a sleep tech, so love to see other Emergency Responders on here! Welcome!!!

Re: giving lecture..need input..DME
Interesting--How did you get a DME to even be interested in hearing about OSA and CPAP treatment from a patient's perspective? Your post gave me one of those "AHA" moments: I think it points to something very important. We hope RT's on DME staff know about OSA "what sleep apnea is, how we test for ...

Re: Snored last night once with mask on!
Yes, it does affect therapy somewhat but rare episodes are no worse then waking and finding that the mask needs adjustment. It is hard to stay off our backs all the time. If it persists and you feel it is affecting treatment you can always add some sort of chinstrap and see if that remedies things....

giving lecture..need input..DME
I am giving a lecture to our local DME on Thursday the 3rd. I am letting them know about CPAPtalk so they can pass it on to the patients as well. I would like to know from you...How was it dealing with your DME and what made it a good or bad experience. I appreciate any input!

Re: Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
I just started using this mask..The first couple nights it was great. No leaks, I could roll over with no leak issues. Lately though, around 3 am it leaks! I try and try to adjust and by this time I'm wide awake. The sizing chart says I need a small and Ive always used a large. So I may try the smal...

Re: Would you believe this???
What gets me is, do these people not relaize that most peoples OSA is deeper in the airway and not jaw related? Just like the dental device, it may work for some very mild OSA patients, by moving the jaw forward whch also moves the tongue out of the way. Even some of the mild patients take a very hi...

Re: Should I be pissed or furious?
find out if they are accredited with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine! They have to meet the highest standards to hold that title, and the AASM would be very curious why they are not keeping better records.. Huh, I just thought of option #4. A nicely worded dead-tree letter to the Director of ...

I am sorry to hear this!! I have test results for out patients in 3-4 days! The first sleep lab I worked i...

Yeah I had some difficulty at first, but like most new masks I played with it and got it to seal.
