Re: Taking CPAP through carry-on luggage
You can save time if you take your machine out of the bag and place it in a tote all by its self. Most of the time (90%?), they will want to swab it for explosives, and it is better to already have it out rather than having to stop the line to take it out.

Re: Vicks vapor Run In front of Air Intake for congestion relief
Vicks Vapo Rub is not a decongestant and it is sold only as a cough suppressant. Any congestion "relief" is an illusion caused by the irritant/cooling effects of the aromatics.

jnk, I have never heard of EVO Medical and I can't say that I know anything good or bad about that APAP. I stay away from electronic medical devices made by manufacturers that are not well known.

If you are stuck at a hotel without a power cord, you can usually find one in the hotel lost and found box -- ask at the front desk, or possibly the bell captain.

Re: Battery operated cpap device?
The current draw for the M series auto and IntelliPAP (both regular and auto) at 11 cmh2o is right at 1 amp. Less than 10 cmh2o will be a bit less and above 11 cmh2o will be more than 1 amp. Of course this is directly powering the CPAP from 12 volts and without humidifier.

Re: IntelliPAP auto firmware upgrade
I have two IntelliPAPs, and I don't see any reason to do a firmware upgrade. I am a gray beard UNIX and Linux system administrator and I am very conservative about applying patches and doing upgrades. If a patch or upgrade doesn't fix a security problem or an actual problem that affects my servers, ...

Re: using cpap and treadmill together......
It would be a better idea to adapt a 12 volt automotive alternator with appropriate electronics to your treadmill and use it to charge a backup battery for your CPAP.

Re: OT: Inexpensive Vitamin D Testing
I just ordered a bottle of 50,000 iu D3. From what I have gathered from several web sites, taking 50,000 iu D3 (otc) per week is much better than 50,000 iu D2 (script). A half hour of direct, mid-day, summer sun exposure (without sunscreen) is better than either.

Re: CPAP battery operation and transport by air
There is a limit to the size of the battery (I think that it is actually the amount of lithium) that can be carried on board an aircraft. The medium sized Battery Geek CPAP battery is not too large, but I believe that the large Battery Geek CPAP battery (BG-C444) is larger than is supposed to be car...

I use a rather large camera bag; it is well padded and I can also carry my netbook, Kindle and some other things in it. It also has lots of pockets and compartments.

Re: Question on cleaning and mask/tubing/etc replacement
Other than your filters, you only need to replace CPAP bits when they break or wear out. Filters need to be checked regularly (I do it weekly); the white filter is replaced when it is no longer white and the foam filter (if there is one) can be washed or replaced when dirty. The DME wants you to rep...

Re: Bacteria Filter?
I would not use fabric or other material designed for making clothing as an air filter, especially for a CPAP. Air filter media is designed to not add anything to the air passing through it. Sewing materials can contain many things that may be safe to wear in clothing, but are not necessarily good t...
