S9 ClimateLine hose problem and fix

Post by fiberfan » Tue Mar 30, 2010 5:03 pm

Last night when I connected my ClimateLine hose the machine said there was a problem with the hose. Since I had only used the hose 3 nights I was feeling a bit irritated. I took the hose back off and looked at the contacts. One of the 3 was partially covered with plastic the same color as the housing around the contacts. I used the end of 1.25mm knitting needle (US size 0000) to remove the plastic and everything worked fine.

I had a similar problem with my first ClimateLine hose, but in my case I needed a warranty replacement. It seemed fine at first but after the error message it kept dropping out--the S9 intermittently switched out of climate control and into standard humidification.
I got the new hose last Friday and so far it looks good.

Jstaggie, How did you know you had a problem?

The S9 would either not report that a ClimateLine hose was connected (so the humification symbol was just a drop of water instead of a thermometer/drop of water.
If it did correctly recognize it, sometimes in less than a second it would revert to thinking a standard hose was attached.

When the mode changed, the display lit up, so I noticed it at times when falling asleep and also in the morning I'd notice that display no longer showed the climateline symbol again. Sometimes, if I wiggled the hose, the mode would switch back and forth. Because everything was brand new, I wasn't sure if it was the hose, humidifier, or even the S( itself, but with the replacement hose, everything now appears to be working correctly.
