What could cause my APAP pressure to rise? When I first started therapy, my CPAP pressure was at 8. The doctor gave me an APAP machine, and my pressure rose to between 12 and 13. Recently, my average pressure has risen again, to 16. What could cause such a rise in pressure? I have lost 40 pounds, so it's not a weight issue.
Thanks for any insights you may have!

Re: What Causes Pressure to Rise?
How's your leak rate?
Re: What Causes Pressure to Rise?
Leak rate is 0.
Re: What Causes Pressure to Rise?
Sounds like your machine might be set too wide open. What are your pressure settings?

Re: What Causes Pressure to Rise?
My pressure range is 11 to 16--is that what you mean? It's topping out. I'm getting concerned. Should I be worried?
Re: What Causes Pressure to Rise?
any sinus or allergy things going on? Or a cold even?
Re: What Causes Pressure to Rise?
No, nothing like that at all. I'm just fine physically.
Re: What Causes Pressure to Rise?
When your pressure rises, does it stay there or is it only for a couple of minutes. I paniced too when mine went up, I had my machine set from 10 to 13 and it hit 13 3 days in a row. I changed my settings to 10 to 14.5......it stopped going to 13 a nd now stays around 11. I dropped it back to 13 and it has been fine ever since, seems to hover between 10.5 and 11 with an occational 12 thrown in for good measure. I'm guessing it was an outside oddidty and has settled back down to normal. Perhaps yours has done the same thing, if its not an everyday thing I would not worry about it.
