Tell your parent he should be checked for sleep apnea.
The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Re: 11 yrs old boy
Will your parents listen to you about his snoring? Do you share the same bedroom? Have your parents talked about his snoring?
Obviously if he is your brother, a parent or guardian will have to follow up since there are issues of costs, approval for any testing and treatment, etc.
If you have talked to your parents they may not realize the consequences of untreated sleep apnea and the link between it and snoring. How is his school work? School work can be affected by lack of quality sleep. If possible talk to your teacher and explain you are worried about your brother and tell them about his loud snoring.
Talk to an adult you trust and explain why you are worried about your brother and his snoring. Have them help you approach your parents about this.

yes we sleep in the same bedroom. my parents know about it but they don't think it was serious. we have a huge age gap and he is on my care now.

I believe you now. Can you take your brother to a pediatric ENT who is familiar with sleep disorders? Get a reference for the right doctor.chibilito wrote:rooster

To the doctor without wasting a minute! Untreated sleep apnea can cause a HUGE increase in blood pressure as the heart pumps harder and harder to force more and more blood to the extremities to provide oxygen to the organs. In my case I was warned if left untreated the Apnea could lead to a split Aorta and sudden death, usually while sleeping but also possible while playing sports with uncontrolled blood pressure and perhaps the beginnings of a tear in a major artery or the beginning of an aneurism.
I am sorry to be so blunt but sometimes it is the naked truth that finally creates some action. Loud snoring is a definite sign of sleep apnea and asides from all of the other bad things associated with the condition there is a very real risk of serious health issues and sudden death.
The treatments are varied and your MD will have to advise on that, but I can only tell you that I used to wake up at night in a sweat from the high blood pressure and struggle for air when deeply asleep and snoring.
Show these messages to your parents and your brother and if they won't listen to you then for goodness sake take them to an aunt or uncle or to the school principal - often it is just a decay in lifestyle that results from untreated sleep apnea... but again, there is that real risk of grievous bodily harm hanging over your brother there.

it will help to tape record his snoring so you can play it to doctor, also if he is restless in sleep, pauses between breathing or pulls blankets off bed, these all suggest sleep apnea
some apnea sufferers dont get fatigue
