How to tell if Auto mode is on

I have a Remstar C-Flex Auto, how can I tell if the AutoPap option is turned on? It says CFLEX on the LED, but doesn't say auto. Do I need to have the DME turn it on? My doctor probably didn't prescribe auto mode, because he is not a sleep specialist, just an internist, and probably doesn't know what auto is.
