DE is great for killing slugs, I forgot about that.

Re: tonsillectomy next week, any advice?

I think that you will be seeing far fewer acetaminophen/narcotic combination medications prescribed (or even available) in the US in the near future. There have been a number of acetaminophen overdoses caused by these combination medications and the FDA is taking action to reduce these overdoses. ht...

DE is great for water filtration. I think that it is also used in cosmetic mud packs.

Re: Cold bedroom = no seal?

You can cover your head up too, the heat under the covers may help with the sealing problem.

With CPAP, you have fresh air supply, so it won't get stuffy under the covers.

Re: UPPP Worthless?

When an ENT says that a patient is an "excellent candidate" for UPPP, that means that their insurance will cover it.

Re: Whole house generator

I wonder how many people will actually replace their own telephone batteries. The first Fios and cable company provided batteries are going to start failing In a few years; some number of them may not be holding much of a charge even now.

Re: Whole house generator

I am old fashioned (I used to be a Bell System Communications Technician and I have worked for Bell Labs), I prefer to let the telco provide dial tone and power my phone line rather than having to worry about a rechargeable CPE battery. I don't know how often Verizon or the cable company replace the...

Re: Whole house generator

No generator but several UPSs for computers and networking equipment, and I have two batteries for my CPAP. We have a portable gas stove and several battery operated LED lights. We have a copper pair wired telephone line that is powered by the telco central office (with wired phones). Cordless phone...

Re: Where to get replacement REMstar power adapter? (traveling)

It needs 12 volts with a center positive plug, you should get at least a 2 amp power supply.

Re: Power outages

I have a li-ion battery for my CPAP that I leave plugged into my CPAP. My IntelliPAP can be plugged into AC and a 12 volt battery at the same time, and it automatically switches to the battery when the AC power fails. I have woken up a few times trying to figure out why the bedroom was totally dark ...

Re: Why do some folks take to cpap so quickly and others do not?

When I started CPAP about 16 years ago, I had zero support, and I didn't realize that failure was an option. I gutted it out and I got compliant. About a year later I was 100% compliant and still hated it; I Had an MMA and when it was ineffective I later had a UPPP, which was also ineffective. I fin...

Re: New ad for polygrip lawsuits & zinc poisoning

The people who had zinc problems weren't using it as directed as an adhesive, they were using large quantities to fill gaps in ill-fitting dentures.

Re: Vicks vapor Run In front of Air Intake for congestion relief

I remember that my mom used Vaporub all of the time when somebody in the house had a cold, and she would put it in a cup on the vaporizer. I heard people say that they associate the smell of Vaporub with comfort from when their mother used it on them -- and some of the commercials I have seen recent...

Re: depression meds for my fatigue

I am currently on Prozac for fibromyalgia -- and it isn't working. When I first started taking it, I was unable to sleep. I don't normally have problems with falling asleep, but for the first month i used it, Prozac made me unable to fall asleep. I am sleeping fine now, even after doubling the dosage.

Re: Vicks vapor Run In front of Air Intake for congestion relief

Perhaps the Australian formula is different from the US formula. vicks.com makes no claim for Vaoprub other than it is "a topical cough medicine with medicated vapors that works quickly to relieve your cough" http://www.vicks.com/products/vaporub "Vicks® VapoRub® ointment—the #1-selling product for ...
