have Elite II cpap machine...how to understand the data????

Post by sheep1234 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 3:05 pm

So I found out how to access the clinical menu and have pulled up some numbers, but aren't sure how to understand them???
Are they bad or are they good?

This was from last night...........under "week" it says
leak 0.00
ahi 3.8
ai 1.2
hi 2.6

The last time I did this was probably last weekend and they said:
ahi 2.9
ai 0.7
hi 2.5

Is this an average for the week or was it from the night before? Under "day" it says no results, so what is going on?

Thanks in advance!

sheep, I think your numbers look great -- especially that zero for leak!

If it were me, I'd probably raise the CPAP pressure a cm or two to see if that would drop the AI figure (the AI ... not the "AHI") closer to zero. With a ResMed machine, I wouldn't worry about the HI (hypopnea index) or the overall AHI (apnea/hypopnea index.) I'd concentrate just on the AI (apnea index.)

But even if you didn't change a single thing, your numbers are very, very good.

Looks like very effective cpap therapy to me, but I'm no doctor.

The Elite II won't show data from the night before after noon the following day. So if you were checking after noon, that's probably why it isn't showing any results for "Day". There is an internal clock in the machine, which can be accessed through the Clinical Menu.

By the way--you don't need to access the clinical menu to get your results. They can be accessed by pressing the left and right "-" simutaniously for about 3 sec. then you can get the results menu.

Hi & Greetings,

Welcome to Cpap. You have found a great place for help and encouragement. However, if you just started cpap on November 1, and your data is that good, you have had a great beginning. Anytime The Queen Bee of Cpap, (Rested Gal) gives your advice; following that will be your formula for success.

Hope to see you on the forum.

Thanks to everyone!! Very Helpful!!

I started cpap therapy on 10/29 and have felt way better than before. Some days are kinda off, but that's ok. I'm still feeling better than before therapy.

A couple of nights ago, I woke up to get ready for work and my mask was sitting on my machine. I guess sometime in the middle of the night I had taken it off. I KNOW I had put it on at bedtime. Weird!!! And scary! lol

I talked to my dad today and told him all about my sleep study and machine. Whenever we go over there, he will fall asleep in his recliner repeatedly. We used to tease him about this until now. Now he wants to have a sleep study done too. 2 years ago, he had a 5 way bipass done so he DEFINITELY needs the cpap!! He also said last night he woke up in a sweat. Basically he had all of the symtoms I had prior to cpap.

Love this forum! So helpful!
