medicare compliance qualification--data transmit from a crui

Postby foxhunter on Thu Nov 05, 2009 4:44 pm

I have been diagnosed with severe OSA and Central , AHI 84. Having just received my first setup today, I am starting my medicare qualification period of 30 days.
My unit is a Resmed S8 Elite with a Fisher Paykel Forma full face mask.
My problem is that I will be in the Caribbean on a cruise ship from the beginning of December with my unit. The unit has a transmitter attached which links to the supplier. Will this work out of the US?
If not , what can I do about my qualifying time.
I would appreciate any advice
Thankyou.

Don't sweat the small stuff. You've got a great CPAP there. I had its forerunner, the S8 Elite w/EPR before I was switched to a bi-level due to my COPD. These Resmeds store enough data it'll be there when you get home if the transmission from the ship doesn't make the transfer for you.

I wondered about that too.... I just took it off for my trip and put it back on when I got home, I figured I could always say it got knocked loose for a few days and I reset it when I found it loose. Like above, it will store the used hours and I think that is what they are after anyway, Making sure you are using the machine.

Thanks friends. Slinky, i have been reading some of your posts and you sure seem to be up to date on a bunch of issues.
Sure hope these problems are not hurting your enjoyment of life too much?
One mechanics question.
The welcome section asks newbies to fill in the profile section but I'm damned if I can find where that is! Your assistance would be most appreciated.

Up in the upper left corner in the blue line is "User Control Panel" Click on that. Profile is listed on the new page. Click on that. Scroll down all the way, don't give up too early when filling out your profile. Down near the bottom is an area to list your equipment. You can indicate your equipment w/text or icons. PLEASE use the text. The icons are cute but take too long for us to click on them and the page w/your equipment on it upload to our screens.

Thanks, and nope, things aren't interfering w/my enjoyment of life. Life's too short fto let them interfere. Heck life is NEVER boring!!! Besides, I'm not happy unless I've got SOMETHING to mumble, grumble and gripe about. So I'm actually happily mumbling and grumbling along just fine. *wicked grin*

The data will be stored on the unit, so no worries there. I would tell your provider that you q=will be in the Caribbean for how many days, this way if the Restraxx isn't picking up data they don't keep calling you. I currently have a pt in Puerto Rico and am able to get the data from him.

Happy Travels!!

You really should be discussing this with your provider but do let us know what they are recommending.

Certainly, Slinky is wise beyond her years - and fiesty too ;)

Thanks, Gumby. So far it "ain't" my heart that needs blessing tho! Some of the other "parts" would benefit from it when you have the time for some more blessings.

If you saw Ellen the other day she healed a woman in wheelchair by throwing money on the floor in front of her. Not sure what other parts need this blessing but check with Ellen prob wouldn't mind touching them!!! ;)
