OT Winter still life

Post by carbonman » Sun Feb 07, 2010 4:23 pm

Cold, snowy day. No cycling today.
I decided to take the Sagebug up to White Ranch Open Space for a hike.
White Ranch was sold to the county to be preserved as open space.
It is situated in the heart of the foothills to the Rocky mtns.

If you were wondering.....this is a Sagebug.

Up into the quiet forest.
Image
....so quiet.....you can hear the snow fall and the fog brush against your skin.
Image
All around, the forest, locked in the still life of winter.

Beautiful photos!!! Thanks for sharing your part of the world, carbonman. We get no snow where I live, so that was a real treat for me! There's something very special about that kind of quiet.

Cman, absolutely breathtaking! I'm almost feeling the peace and quiet you experienced. The snow looks pretty here in NJ, but just not the same, that's for sure. Thanks.

Good stuff, Carbonman.

The snow here in Brooklyn, by the way, looks great for the first 30 seconds or so after it hits the ground.

Carbon, I was tempted to take my camera with me lately when I went on my walk but I left it at home. I take our two dogs with and keep them on leashes and can't handle the dogs and a camera but maybe as they mellow out a little I will be able to.

I live just outside Chicago in the suburbs and today I had a Coyote cross my path 15 feet in front of us and saw at least 50 white tails and that was only a four mile round trip walk. OK, I think I am going to have to take the camera with me tomorrow. Granted the pics from this area can't compare to yours.

Beautiful! Loved your snowcones, but I confess, I was at first looking for you to have scooped up some snow and drizzled some flavoring over it.

Carbonman

A delightful dreamy scene.

Loved the pine cone resting in the snow.
I have just had 3 seeds of a 'hoop pine' pop up after 3 weeks from planting in pots & have
a few varieties of pines in our garden incl 3 x Wollemi Pine ( http://www.wollemipine.com/aboutwp.php )

Love your pics - very calming

I love White Ranch. My hubby rides his bike and I ride my horse there often. It sure looks different in the winter though.
