Poll: Which type of xPAP? Check data? Titrate periodically?

Post by Muse-Inc » Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:41 pm

Curious again. What type of xPAP are you using? How often do you check your data if your xPAP collects data? If you have an auto-titrating xPAP, do you periodically titrate (run wide open to collect data)? I now have an APAP and plan to titrate periodically as I lose more weight and when my trend shows increased events.

Data-capable CPAP here (ResMed S8 Elite II). I check and write down my data results daily.

I check daily. Because my VPAP Auto 25 can only store two days of detailed data on the smartcard, I download daily. Otherwise I'm sure I'd forget, go an extra day or so and lose some detail. Yes, I'm feeling better, but my memory for such details is still trashed....

BiPAP, data capable, no card reader or SW so far.

I reset the LCD and check the patient-viewable numbers daily, saving them in a spreadsheet.

I was given the machine in my profile as my first machine. I have checked it daily, and then every-other-day to get numbers. I have it set currently for 10-20 Auto with A-Flex 2 just to check my pressure. I was prescribed 11cm straight CPAP but when I checked with 9-13cm Auto it was 90%: 13cm. After checking my numbers tonight, I will put it at 11-15cm final pressure range for now. Wish I could set a straight pressure of 1:1 in Auto Mode but Encore Pro won't let me
The best way to use Auto is a pressure range of 2cm above and 2cm below pressure.

I never run it wide open. I adjust as needed when and if numbers show it's needed. Running wide open usually causes more problems as on machine can really ramp up to catch events that fast. You will end up waking up miserable doing this because you will be waking up throughout the night. Just the machine ramping up alone would be enough to startle some people awake.

Have S8 AutoSet II and ResScan 3.7. Which is entirely due to being educated at this forum. My local DME's were offering me dump xPAP's.

I was waking up alot with APAP, am currently doing a trial of CPAP, and it's going well. I may do r titration with APAP, but not wide open, just a few cm above and below. I'm reluctant to go too high, due experience with aerophagia.

I would NOT ACCEPT any type of xPAP that was NOT fully data capable!!! My first DME "tried" to pull that stunt on me. They delivered it late Friday afternoon and early Monday morning I returned it. Monday afternoon I had a fully data capable Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR from a different DME provider who is still my DME provider and who takes GOOD care of me and any accessories I need.

I used to check my data daily. For the past year or so, though, I check it perhaps once a month or longer intervals. It's always essentially the same, so I've become very casual about checking it nowadays.

I'm one of the tiny minority of servo ventilator users. The machines are fully data-capable.

I download as often as the smart card/software will allow - been having lots of problems with that recently.

With my CompSDB/CompSAS, I don't get to play with the machine wide open. The machine does not titrate by itself. Only one change so far per advice from SWS/Muffy - to increase Min IPAP by 2 cm - and the RT did that one for me.

I would check my data daily in the morning for about the first six months. Now I check it every couple of days or so but at night. I was concerned that I was letting the numbers tell me how I felt.

Nice poll Muse-Inc!! I check immediately when I get up. I've learned a lesson though, the data doesn't tell me how I feel, only I can do that!!

I need to ask myself how I feel first and then look for a reason why in the data. It just may not be in the data...

thanks,

SG

I would be collecting my data while I'm here in Russia, but dumb me forgot my card reader. That's life.
