Any way to get AHI data?
Any way to get AHI data?
Hello all... I am new to CPAP therapy and just completed week 6. I adapted to the CPAP therapy fairly easily and now find that I am less tired during the day and have fewer headaches.
I started with a Respironics REMStar Plus M Series, but about 3 weeks ago I switched to a Respironics REMStar Auto M Series. The "Plus" version did not have the ability to keep track of AHI or HI data but the "Auto" version does. I wanted to be able to get some idea of how well I was doing and that is why I switched from the Plus to the Auto.
Is there any way for me to see the previous nights HI / AHI data through the LED readout? Or must I purchase the card reader and software to be able to obtain the data. Also, if I need the card reader and software must I get a prescription for this?
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

Re: Any way to get AHI data?
For the software and the reader you do not need a prescription for these, they are a must though to get a better look than what is on the LCD which is just averages. The card will record seven days worth of daily data then compresses that into a summary for the week then it starts over with a new day for a week. The card will hold about 6 months worth of data.
To get the info for the screen activated: which the DME's never do is:
to turn On the "Show AHI/Leak Feature"
Menu for M Series Auto
1. Hold down the <- -> buttons while plugging in the power on the back, wait for 2 beeps, release buttons.
2. Press the + key. <- -> buttons move to next field, -/+ keys decrement/increment
3. Check the following field(s):
-Therapy Mode = (CPAP/Auto)
-Auto:Max = (default=20.0cm)
-Auto:Min = (default=4.0cm)
-C-Flex Setting = (options are off, 1, 2 or 3)
-AutoRamp Time = (options are 05 to 45 min)
-AutoRamp Pressure = cm (4cm->AutoMin)
-Mask Alert Feature = Off (On/Off)
-Auto Off Feature = Off (On/off)
-Split Night Time = Off (off, 120, 180, 240)
-Show AHI/Leak Feature = On (On/Off)
Press On/Off button to exit.
==========Resetting LCD Display Data====================
To reset LCD Therapy data (does NOT erase any data from SmartCard):
1. Hold down the (<-) (->) buttons while plugging in the power on the back,
wait for 2 beeps or 5 seconds, release buttons.
2. Press the (->) key and navigate to Therapy screen.
3. Press and HOLD down the (-) minus key for 5 seconds and/or until therapy data is reset to Zero.
4. Press the (->) key to scroll back to main menu, press (+) key to enter Setup or
On/Off button to exit.

Re: Any way to get AHI data?
I cannot seem to even get AHI averages from the readout. It just seems to report average usage and average pressure. Is there some way to get average AHI from the digital readout?
If I can get the card reader and software without a prescription I will do so. Is it compatible with Windows Vista?
EDIT: I see you provided instructions on how to get the AHI data from the digital readout... I will give that a try... many thanks

Snorkler: Do you have Vista 32bit or Vista 64bit?

Re: Any way to get AHI data?
It is the 64 bit version. Can I use the card reader and software with this?
I used the information you provided and found that my 7 day average AHI is 4.2 and my 30 day average is 3.8. I guess anything under 5.0 is good.

Re: Any way to get AHI data?
Yes, an AHI under 5 is good.
As for the software and reader, there is a problem with it and the 64 bit Vista. It does work with Vista 32 bit. There are some people who have been able to get it to work with 64 bit. You could do a search on the forum on Windows Vista 64 bit and Encore Viewer, which is the software you can get. I think you might find it there.
If not, at least my post will bump this thread up to the top again and someone who knows might see it!
