Re: Can u help me get over my embarassment?
I can fully understand the embarrassment. Asthma is not caused by being overweight. In my case, my OSA is caused by being fat, no 2 ways about it. There's contributing factors, but the primary factor is fatness. Therefore, I'm embarrassed about my CPAP too. I hide mine when we have company over tha...

Re: OPUS 360 pillows vs. Swift LT pillows
I started with the Swift and tried the Opus mask. I didn't even make it the first night before I took them off and put my Swift back on. The pillows on the Swift are much softer and more comfy.

Re: New mask HUGE difference
I too am a lover of the Swift LT (for her) mask! My DME started me with a FFM. I tried it for 3 nights, but couldn't get it to stop leaking into my eyes, or I'd wake up with a mini-panic attack and the intense need to rip it off. I got the Swift 5 days after starting CPAP and haven't looked back sin...

Re: travel without humidifier - 1st time
Guess I got lucky. I was in Seattle & Vancouver 2 mos. ago and while I had my humidifier, I didn't get around to getting any distilled water. I thought I'd try a night w/out it. I had no problems, but it may be that I'm so used to living in dry conditions that Seattle/Vancouver was sooo moist that i...

Re: Swift LT vs Ultra Mirage II
I feel for you on the curry thing. Yuck!
I use the Swift LT mask and find that I need the straps a bit snug. Sometimes my nose is a bit sore, but it's gone by the time I get out of the shower. No biggie.

Re: Backup xpap machines
I got the Resmed S8 Compact from my insurance, with all the stuff (hose, mask, humidifier, etc.) then found a brand new S8 Elite II with matching humidifier, FFM, hose, etc. for $200. I couldn't pass it up. Now when I travel I take my Compact because it's the cheaper machine.

Re: Sore back with CPAP?
I was so happy to see this because I've noticed an increase in my lower back pain. I usually have some degree of it off & on because. I do get exercise about 3-4 times a week, so I'm not sedentary, even if I'm overweight (borderline obese). I'm going to try an Advil before bed. I know I can't do thi...

Re: New problems with Swift LT pillows
I figured out that my pillows are worn out. I also found out that my HMO gives me new ones every month, which is not what I was told when I got my CPAP. Since I'm going out of town tomorrow, I stopped by the DME to pick up my February AND my January pillows. Somehow I got 3, but I'm not complaining....

New problems with Swift LT pillows
Hello! I've been on CPAP since 12/18/08 and sleeping well and daily with it since 12/30. I'm regularly getting AHI's <1.0 and feeling great. However, the past 2 nights have been very frustrating. Sunday night I couldn't get my right nasal pillow to stop leaking. It's not big enough to register as a ...

Re: laughing stock of the hospital
You'd be amazed at the mistakes they make too. I learned this first-hand when I worked in a hospital. God help me if I didn't dot an "i" or cross a "t" but the docs and nurses were held to a different standard, as if they were doing us all a favor by working there. I saw soooo many mistakes that it ...

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome
I have RLS, but I don't take anything for it. I've never even mentioned it to a doc.
Just because a doc prescribes something, doesn't mean you have to take it.
I can't tell you how many Vicodin prescriptions I turned down when I was a mountain biker (and frequent crasher).

Re: Why do numbers go up when pressure does?
Prior to CPAP my AHI during my sleep study was 62 per hour. My O2 levels went as low as 81%
I've had an O2 test since starting CPAP. I dont' know what my levels were, but the HMO said they were "great".
