Re: # Events on back vs side sleeping
Sleeping on your back allows the base of your tongue to slide back and cause more obstruction, due to gravity. In addition, depending on your pillow, your head may be tilted forward, again adding to the obstruction. So, most people need a higher pressure to get the air through, while on their back. ...

Re: Frequency of Follow-up Visits
It's nice to be able to get replacement masks and other supplies through insurance, but for that you need a prescription. And that means at least once per year doctor visits.
Otherwise, I've seen no pressure to come back. If there was a problem, I'd be quick to set up an appointment.

Re: Quattro "Pro" ?
I agree, I have both masks, and prefer the Quattro.
I have also experienced the elastic stretch. I have to tighten it every once in awhile, or leaks occur.

Re: Mouth full of air, rip off mask, help please.
Just my two cents... I have a full-face mask, and my cheeks blow out predictably at about 12 or 13. Not much I can do about it. Maybe wrap my face in duct tape. I've learned to live with it. The pressure in my mouth stays relatively consistent - just the small variance due to Respironics version of ...

Re: Pressure Question
It's as much art as science, getting things tweaked just right. Too low is not good because the machine wants to drop back toward min after each correction. So, it ricochets between good and too low. Half the time you want more pressure and aren't breathing well, and half the time all is well. Too h...

Re: Snored Last Night - First Time Since Using CPAP
There is always a better chance you'll snore when on your back. Gravity does it's thing with the back of your tongue. Sleep clinics will make sure you spend some time on your back so they can record the worst case. I sleep 95% of the time on my side, so I think it's crazy to set a high number (17 in...

Re: CPAP Internal Clock and Travel
I don't bother. I travel a lot, and have a second machine just for travel, so it almost never runs in my home time zone. It complicates the data issue, because I should be checking both machines. At compliance-check time, I supply both cards to the doctor's office, so they can see there are no real ...

Re: HELP...Machine set too High ?
The only way to really know is to set it down a bit and record what happens. But that pressure is pretty low already, it probably is not causing you to lose sleep.

Re: aerophagia - could it last all day - no gas?
It can be very painful. I can usually burp to release the air pressure. In bed, this works best lying on the left side, because the esophagus is higher than the stomach in that position - you can burp air without food issues. Or I'll get up and walk around releasing prodigious burps until all is wel...

Re: M-Series warranty support
One last update. The warranty replacement unit I received was indeed new, as far as I can tell. The air has that "new plastic smell." Under warranty, cpap.com wants just the cpap and cord, nothing else. For the replacement, I received a full package, including travel case, hose, and filters. Hard to...

Re: Poll: How many machines in how many years?
I have two, with one being my "travel unit" and the other my "home unit." They're identical.
Travel can be hard on them, and I didn't want to take the chance that my only machine would be damaged on the road.

Re: Different Masks, WAY different results!
My number using the Quattro is 1.7, with a pressure range of 10-17. The graphs show I generally run as high as 15 a couple of times per night (probably when I am on my back). The only thing I can think of, and it's just a guess, is that a full-face encourages your jaw to pull back, because of the te...

Re: M-Series warranty support
To follow up... I sent my new but non-functioning M-Series back to cpap.com in mid-November, they checked and agreed it was bad, sent it to Respironics, and we all waited. About a month later, I inquired, and was told Respironics had a parts issue and had now agreed that they should just send me a n...

Re: travelling with CPAP machine
In my frequent traveling, I take the cpap out of the bag and put it on its own tray. They stop the belt when they see it, and hold everything until someone can grab it and do a swab. So, there's no concern about bag searches or anything like that. If you leave it in the bag, they are required to sea...
