It's Friday....anybody lose weight???

Post by yawn » Fri Sep 09, 2005 2:50 pm

Hi everybody!!!
My life has been insane the past 2 days. I just quickly read through the original thread re: losing weight. Boy...I'm so happy that so many people want to do this. So here goes.
I have no idea whether or not I lost weight this week. My scale is totally unreliable so I am going to post my weight "changes" monthly when I weigh in at my doctors office.
I was able to stick to my "diet" and exercise and drink water. I've eaten tons of fruit (and I have the "discomfort" to prove it). Today was a special day at work because my partner and I got to move into our new office last night. Today was our 1st official day in the new "digs". The story behind this is very long so I won't bore you. Anyway, the principal had an office warming party for us complete with brownies, cheesecake, coffee cake, and chocolates. Everything was small and I will admit that I had 1 cheese cake and 1 coffee cake...oh yeah...1 small pastry too. Believe me, it sounds like more than it was. I had a smaller breakfast because I had made up my mind that I was going to have a little cheat at he party. Lunch was fruit and cottage cheese. I'm actually very hungry right now (have been all day) which I hope means I'm losing weight. I haven't exercised yesterday or today but that's ok. My knees and feet have been killing me so I needed the rest.
So, all in all, I'm very pleased with myself. I got through an entire week without "blowing it" (and I had alot of stress to deal with this week). I can't wait to hear how all of you have done.

Amy,
Good for you. Sounds like you're off to a good start. And there won't be daily office warming parties, so glad you enjoyed yourself a little. And you're exercising, drinking water...on the road to health. I'm happy for you.

I haven't lost anything else yet. I figure since it's the last 9 lbs. to go, they are going to be slow in coming off. Won't give up the ship, though, not even after they do come off (positive thinking). It is a way of life, not a temporary diet/exercise plan.

Will let you know when I lose another pound. I'm afraid, though, these are going to be the hard ones. Will be needing all the support I can get.

I played tennis today for the third time this week...the leagues have begun again for fall. But I had not played all summer due to a hysterectomy. OMG, an hour and a half of doubles is wayyyyy too long! I am SO out of shape!

Then, about two hours after tennis I went to work out with a personal trainer. She has decided that I am not compliant on doing my cardio (and tennis does not count as cardio because of too many stops and starts) so that she was going to make my workout session include cardio. So I'd lift some weights and get on the treadmill, do some lunges and get on the treadmill, etc. Well.....I TOLD her I was getting tired and I was still sore from last session (and from the tennis, embarassingly enough)...and she didn't believe me.....UNTIL.....I quite literall FELL OFF THE TREADMILL. Okay, NOW she believes me.

I hope I can sleep tonight with the CPAP AND the skinned knee AND the skinned elbow, lol. I bet she listens to me from now on, ya think? Damn little 20-something girlie.

And no, I haven't lost weight yet. I think the bandaids are weighing me down.

What's with that? Wouldn't it be nice if you could lose it as fast as you gained it?

Well, most people with Crohn's can, but I've never followed that model. I like to eat and when I am in remission, as I am now, I make up for lost time as I could could always go out of remission.

What is with "If it's good, it's bad"?

Food,

If it tastes good it's bad for you, if it's bad, it's good for you. Lifes not fair

If I wrote that (who remembers with the amount of posts I write per week), what I can presume I meant is, usually the best tasting foods are fried or high in fat or calories, rich, gooey or loaded with sugar, which makes them bad for you. You don't normally hear folks say, "Man, was that tomato out of this world or what???" I was a fast-food junkie in my earlier years, but won't go near any of that anymore. "If it's good, it's bad" would mean just that in my mind, only I would have left out the word "probably" before the word "bad."

No, No, No, You misunderstood me. I was not quoting you, I was bemoaning the fact that the statement is true.

My problem is I love both types of food. I do love a good tomato, but I like it on fresh white bread with mayo and salt and pepper!

I tested the theory that missing sleep makes you hungry. I only had 4 hours sleep 2 nights ago and was ravenous that day. I staved off the hunger by "sniffing" essences eg citrus, peppermint etc. and it worked so that I didn't have to succumb to food temptation. BUT today, Saturday, I put on a kids party for 10 youngsters and alas I succumbed. Tomorrow I will feed the hordes salads and Monday I'll fast. I'll report back next friday on travelling pounds, one way or another.

Would there be any value in having a separate forum for the new "healthy eating club"?
