I have always had trouble sleeping in different places. I guess if I was go to a friend's house, or just stay in a hotel, I've always had trouble sleeping in a bed that's not mine (or a couch).
Does anyone else have this problem, and think its apnea related? It's always sucked because I'll avoid staying at friends house's becuase I"ll know I'll sleep like crap. And all my friends/family live far away, so I basically have to make all my trips 1 day get-a-ways so I can go home and sleep.
Also, I sleep with ear plugs in becuase I'm a REALLY, REALLY light sleeper. Is this possibly a side effect of me probably staying mostly in Stage 1-2 sleep becuase of my apnea?
My apnea is basically untreated right now, because I'm going to get a dental device made, so I haven't ever "turned the corner" in regards to my apnea and sleep. So these two things were just some things I know I struggle with, and was wondering if its just me, or others have the same problems.
Is this apnea related?

I am a light sleeper and used to wear earplugs. I don't wear them anymore because the sound of the XPAP and the air in the tubing makes me feel like I am in a tunnel with a lot of traffic in it.
I can get used to sleeping in different places by the 2nd night. By then, I know all the sounds and what it takes to get comfy. One time I even slept on the floor because the mattress was so bad.
Being a light sleeper could be an indication of Sleep Apnea but I don't know that for sure. Not ever getting into stage 3 or 4 sleep sounds reasonable. I didn't have any REM sleep in my diagnostic study nor did I have any in my 1st titration study. My second titiration study, I slept much better and the tech said I had close to an hour of REM sleep. I felt different the next day and it could have been the 1 hour of REM sleep I got! It felt very foreign to me.
I hope the dental device works for you. Write back and let us know how you do with it!

I have usually slept lightly somewhere else especially if there are other people around because I've been so embarrassed about my snoring. I went camping with some friends once many years ago and my friend said my snoring was so loud I sounded like a 200 lb man.
Before CPAP therapy I would wake up once a night (that I know of - sleep study of course said differently). Now with the APAP I wake up more frequently.

My wife sleeps extremely lightly, but does NOT have sleep apnea.
But if "sleeping light" is the same as waking up 38 times an hour, I would say I am a light sleeper without CPAP.
I always have a hard time sleeping for the FIRST night in a new place, although I have noticed this doesn't seem quite so bad with CPAP.
