question about masks
What is headgear
Headgear refers to the straps that go around your head and attach to the mask.

Ultra Mirage
I think the normal Ultra Mirage is a nasal mask. Correct me if I am wrong, guys.

You're right Gary.
Resmed uses mirage or ultra mirage for all it's masks. The full face is refered to as the ultra mirage FF (or full face).
Check out the website at cpap.com. They have a very comprehensive description of all the equipment.

I use the Ultra Mirage, I had a problem when I first started using the Cap, I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, I think it was because I was trying to breathe thru My mouth, My Wife says that I make some sort of funny noise now, all I know is that this thing has changed my life for the better, I was falling asleep behind the wheel to and from work and when ever we went for a drive, first thing after work I would pass out on the couch.
For my first five years on CPAP, I sputtered with treatment air escaping through my mouth. I stopped that with help from Rested Gal on this forum. She has some useful ideas, if you think that is what is happening to you, you might want to read her posts.Anonymous wrote:I use the Ultra Mirage, I had a problem when I first started using the Cap, I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, I think it was because I was trying to breathe thru My mouth, My Wife says that I make some sort of funny noise now, all I know is that this thing has changed my life for the better, I was falling asleep behind the wheel to and from work and when ever we went for a drive, first thing after work I would pass out on the couch.
