Re: In search of a new mask
...Do you not use chin strap with it? Do you have dry throat because of mouth breathing via that mask? I just thought that breathing through mouth is bad and must be somehow avoided. It has a small flap that fits under the chin and in my case generally prevents chin drop but I am a side sleeper and...

Re: blood pressure and heart rate
My BP dropped from 210/115 when I was diagnosed (mine & family's are typically low) in the months following CPAP therapy. Started dropping Cozaar as BP dropped. When BP stabilized around 128/70 totally dropped Cozaar and started reducing the diuretic. Took about 18 months total for me.

Re: How often do you change your pillows?
2 years or so. I wash them daily with Dawn, rinse, spray with 100% white vinegar, let sit a min or so, rinse very, very well. When they get haze/filmy or lose their slight tackiness, I boil the silicone mask parts in water with a teaspoon or two of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) for a few (5-8) ...

Re: Hives from cpap?
Might not be hives, might be a reaction to the soap or vinegar residue(s) or whatever you wash your face with. I wash plastic and silicone mark parts with Dawn, rinse, spray with 100% while vinegar, let sit a min or two, then rinse very, very well to get rid of the scent and any residue. I must wash...

I do not have much leak if any wearing the RespCare Universal Hybrid FFM. It has pillows and covers the mouth so can breathe thru nose or mouth without losing therapy air, comes with 3 sizes of each to get a good fit. Our host has return insurance in case it doesn't work for you. A mouth breather (t...

Re: Black tongue??
Might get some Spry gum. It is Xylitol-based which starves pathogens. While it is an alcohol-sugar, it is digested in a different part of the gut than other similar sugars and thus less likely to cause gut problems.

Re: Need Some help on CPAP/Humidifier
If you are not washing out the overnight crud from your mask, that could be the source of increased allergies. Soap and water is your friend to CLEAN the mask. After washing, I spray with plain old white vinegar to get rid of soap residues and let sit a min or so before rinsing BUT that works for me...
