Re: Insomnia
It is a challenge. I know that for me, there is a window of time in which I can readily sleep. If I miss that window of time, I can be up all night. I now, on occasion use a sleep aide (5 mg of Ambien). It is on nights where I recognize early enough that I missed my window of time for ready sleep bu...

Re: CPAP Camping
16 hours of use so far and the battery is still testing as good. I will see what it looks like in the morning after the third night. I am using a $60 35 Amp deepcycle agm battery of the U1 type. Over at batteries plus, after showing them the resmed chart, I was told that I would need a 55 Amp $199 b...

Re: CPAP Camping
I purchased an AGM battery like http://ebatteriestogo.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EBTG&Product_Code=D5722-WB from Sam's club for $60 including tax and no battery exchange. It is a deep cycle battery type U1 for scooters and wheel chairs. At 35 Ah, 23 pounds and with dimensions ...

Re: 4 broken masks, time to switch
If your insurance will cover replacement, even one at every six months, get the replacement. You can use the parts to keep your mask functioning. I have a couple of masks and parts of masks that were accumulated this way. On a night when I somehow abuse a mask; accidently step on it, push to hard wh...

Re: Wal-Pil-O
Unfortunately, it is all based on individual preferences. Until you use the pillow, you won't know if it is one that you will "truly" like. I have a pillow that feels like a rock to my hands and yet conforms to the shape of my head and provides great comfort and support. It is my favorite pillow. I ...

+1
I have been getting my distilled water from Walmart. (< $1.00) No haze or foul odors to report.

Re: Backpacking
It is difficult to backpack, bicycle, motorcycle or even camp with a cpap. The machine takes up space and then you need power. I have recently purchased at SAM's Club http://www.interstatebatteries.com/cs_estore/content/product_info/specs/dcm0035.pdf a 24 pound deep cycle AGM battery. I don't know h...

Re: 2nd Miserable Night
I don't know what part of the country (if the U.S. or otherwise) you live in. I live in Phoenix, AZ with a low humidity. I don't use my humidifier most of the time. Without the humidity, I have found that I don't have itches as frequently, and the mask seems more comfortable. The only side effect is...

Re: Finally got a battery!
It looks like the ODYSSEY PC 680 is not a deep cycle battery. I think that is Bill's point. It is not meant to be discharged to 20%. I have two solar battery chargers that meet the description in the links above and expect to use them to charge the battery when no other power source (other than sola...

Re: What is the effective life of a Remstar?
I am not sure.... I have over 18000 hours on one. I am keeping it for a backup. My DME told my physician that they could not get replacement parts and that it should be replaced. (not sure about replacement parts, but the machine is running well.) I guess that my physician would not write a script f...

Re: Don't like it much...
I was thinking along similar lines yesterday. I was thinking how much I hate to go through the process to go to sleep. I am not sure whether or not it is the mask, hose, machine noise, or just sleeping. I do know that I cannot sleep or even lie flat, without the machine. Once asleep, I would rather ...

I use a pillow to redirect the exhaust. Find a light weight pillow and sleep with it over your head, that's what I do.

Hey, it's only money.
If it works and lasts for 3 years, it could be worth it.

Re: res med dc converter and insurance
Did we get off topic or what? My insurance company told me that if it was determined to be a medical necessity it would be covered. Hower, in my case, it was not. If you choose an inverter, you will be spending even more. You could directly connect to dc, prefer the few safeguards provided by the DC...
