Humidification - do we really need it on the East Coast
Over 5 yrs of cpap and know it's a way of life for me, but am wondering how critical the humidifier is for locations that are not dry (eg East Coast/Florida). I've hauled my trusty Remstar on many overseas trips - filled the humidifier with whatever water was available, but now beginning to wonder w...

Guidelines for replacing a 2009 machine
I remember in 2009 wondering how it would work out with CPAP, would I be able to sleep, getting a mask to fit, etc. A few years on I just pull on my mask and fall asleep in seconds, no ramp, it's a way of life. My Remstar Pro 2 has performed faithfully and I have many good nights of sleep thanks to ...

Re: Resmed Swift LT for her nasal pillows, last how long?
My current pillow has a tiny '10' embossed as you indicate. Then I looked at the two spares and saw '8' on one '0' on another - but packaging for the spares does say Resmed Singapore, pillows made in China. Maybe I need to switch to one of these and see what happens...

Re: Resmed Swift LT for her nasal pillows, last how long?
I'm actually over 18 months on the same pillows/mask and everything. I think I have at least 3 spares of everything too, just can't find a good reason to replace. I'm wondering if other factors are more important, such as any creams, gels, etc that may interact w/the pillows and increase aging. I ju...

EP 1v8 on Windows 7
Been using the EP 1v8 on an older laptop w/Mako 3500 reader for some time but now can no longer avoid moving to a newer PC running windows 7. Got the error re loading the SQL server as expected. The actual viewer loads fine, but then of course it cant find a server. I've seen some posts a little whi...

Re: My cpap mask is hurting me!!
Just a comment re nasal pillows - I was initially discouraged, but found that a combo of not cranking down too tight and the right pillows size (experiment!) worked well for me. Also my learning is that mask adjustment is measured in months - and it's getting better - I now find myself sleeping side...

Altitude equivalent of CPAP pressure
I'm sure there's a table somewhere, but how does CPAP pressure correspond to altitude. For instance if my CPAP machine is set to 10 cm and I live at sea level, what is the corresponding pressure at 6,000 ft? I know many machines have auto compensation, just trying to get a feel for what 10 cm means ...

Re: Travel CPAP - on a motorcycle
Don't think we'll camp, but really can't see taking my current machine unless I separate it from the humidifier section - but I'm concerned that the humidifier is essential in the CO/Utah area. Really think I need the most compact cpap+humidifier I can find to use for this motorcycle trip (or any ot...

Travel CPAP - on a motorcycle
The good news is that we'll always be within reach of 110v so I'm not talking batteries, but we are talking motorcycles and limited luggage space. Any recommendations for light and reliable - we are going to be in Denver and Utah, so both altitude and dry down by Moab.

Re: Noob problem with Comfortgel Nasal Mask
My thinking is that if the nasal fit is fundamentally good, ie right geometry and size, then a relatively low seating pressure is needed to obtain a minimal leak rate. Obviously this is more of a challenge at higher pressures. But bottom line is that pressure needs to be transmitted through the pill...

Re: cleaning hoses
Still newbie, but taking a more moderate approach. I hang my hose up each morning, and I simply rinse the mask pillows and the feed hose in water each day, then hang it up to dry. Each week I wash hose and headgear in warm soapy water and rinse before hanging up. My only concern re using something l...

ResMed Swift II pillow exchange
I know there's been many... I have a large and medium pillows available and would like to exchange one of these for a small. In order to add value, if I can find a swap then I'll mail the second pillow no exchange (i.e I'd just like to end up with one addnl small pillows).

Re: Resetting Data on the Remstar M Series
Just an opinion on this (as a relative newbie). I started out trying to dissect every nights data, but given the long term nature of this therapy, ie having enough air to support key brain and muscle functions, I really think it's more about whether we can successfully comply, and this means finding...

Re: Base line information for newbies.
Klock, you just need to look at the chart that is supplied w/your mask, for instance 9cm H2O on the swift II is pretty much 29l/min design leak rate. Your Res machine will display this number so you pretty much just subtract whatever vent rate from that determined by the chart - the remainder is lea...

Re: Always Sleepy......
Just a thought for your consideration, but there are many factors during the day that can result in mid afternoon tiredness - for instance if I eat bread, I'm dying for a nap and it's nothing to do w/how well my cpap worked. If the evidence is that AHI is under control then it may be worth taking an...
