My 2nd night with CPAP

I survived my second night. The first night I was absolutely miserable. I just wanted to roll over on my side and sleep. However, I decided to try sleeping on my back like the guy at Apneacare said. I also felt claustrophobic at some point and had to take the mask off for a few minutes because I fre...

Re: Finally!

If you don't have insurance, you will be WORLDS better just buying your own machine online. The DME will charge you a fortune. It only works out with the DME when your insurance is footing the bill . All you need to buy online is your prescription. If you do have insurance, you will have much less ...

Finally!

I finally got the call from ApneaCare (my local DME I guess) to set up an appointment. It's set for Tuesday the 12th. Now what should I expect? Am I going to be able to tell them what machine I want or am I going to have to stick with what they give me? I don't like confrontation but I will fight if...

I'm 22 and recently diagnosed too! 14 days and still waiting for that call. And yes I have called the doc but he was on vacation again. Bah.

Re: Yahoo at last I got my machine

Ugh! 10 days after my titration and I'm still waiting for mine! I called the doctor Thursday and he is on vacation again (he's ALWAYS on vacations it seems) and can't do anything about it until he gets back.

I hope everything goes well for you!

Re: Just can't do it...

Aw shucks, I've got tears in my eyes now. A LOT of the quotes/questions hit close to home as well as everyone's responses. I have a hard time with being honest about my feelings, but here goes: 1) I think I pretty much in denial about the whole situation. I feel like how can I only be 34 and be in ...

Re: Ugh, how much longer do I have to wait!

About the machine, hope that heater is not going to blast right on it. Don't know what type of heater you have, just wondering how that would affect performance and humidification. In spaces as narrow as 8 inches, a retired old style computer tower can double as a table for machines that are no big...

Re: Ugh, how much longer do I have to wait!

My concern is sitting the unit on the floor. It will pick up dust and such alot faster. Recommendations I think are at least 2 feet off the floor. (correct me if I am wrong anyone) I encourage you to rig up something to sit it on- a stack of books, milk crate etc just something to move it off of fl...

Re: Ugh, how much longer do I have to wait!

None of my cats have shown more than a passing interest in the machine or the hose. However, I do have on who loves the mask exhaust. She's gone as far as straddling my head to get it to blow on just the right spot. She's a bit of a psycho tortie though. Her behavior should not usually be considere...

Re: Ugh, how much longer do I have to wait!

Can you not pick up a cheapo nightstand at a local flea market, or even use a couple of milk crates with a flat top? If nothing else, a kitten's claws can nick the hose and cause leaks that way, even if it can't reach up to the top of the bed otherwise. There is no room for a night stand. The heate...

Ugh, how much longer do I have to wait!

It will be two weeks on Wednesday since I got my CPAP titration done. How much longer should I have to wait to get a call from the doc? Yesterday where my migraine was so bad I felt dizzy, had cold sweats, dry heaved, and just couldn't function. I'm sick of these migraines. The doc thinks that the l...

Re: Thyroid issues and lack of sleep.

For me personally, acupuncture's been remarkable in addressing many issues more effectively than western medicine, among them high blood sugar and thyroid. Of course, the reverse is also true: I'd never turn to acupuncture for help in setting a broken bone. I'm glad that you found something that wo...

Re: Thyroid issues and lack of sleep.

I tend to agree with the people who are suggesting that thyroid illness would lead to OSA, rather than the other way around. However, getting good sleep can help with almost everything, so it may be circular, with each problem contributing to the other. It can take time to feel the benefits of thyr...

Re: Thyroid issues and lack of sleep.

Hi Krazykchan, I have had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis for some time, and I also have a medical background though I am not a physician, PA or nurse. Here is what I know: if you are over 50, your TSH may not be a reliable indicator of your hypothyroid state. Your physician may need to look at "FREE T3" ....
