What happens as one gains or loses weight and their facial features change because of it?

Maybe you should use family members as guinea pigs before you test it on strangers.
A lot can go wrong. --just saying. . .
(My brother-in law lost a goodly share of his eyebrows--in plaster)

Kopoloff's face is a different shape when he is lying down as opposed to standing up. Different when lying on his side to on his back.

How do you resolve this difficulty?

The size of your nose and your bone structure won't change. I can see the advantage. God I am so glad our noses don't start sagging as we age.

With my face there would be the issue of positional shape shifting.

Ha! I think you might be correct that custom-made masks could be the Next Big Thing for the cpap industry. The person who can make this happen (either with your clever process (!) or one of their own) will sure get my money!

I was thinking along the same lines as stormy.

The skeletal structure--the dimensions of the nose and the angles where it meets the frontal bone, orbit, and maxilla probably don't change much with position or weight loss.

I was wondering why a mask seal couldn't be made with memory foam. I guess it would be harder to clean and wear out faster but there must be a way it could be used. I love memory foam. I have a 4 inch mattress topper. My bed is cozy. I wish my mask was.
