Poligrip-Minty Fresh..

Post by Sleepy Boy » Fri May 29, 2009 10:59 am

I know there's an 8 page post on this somewhere, but decided to start a new one. I tried the Poligrip Cream last night. I have to admit, that stuff really works. I got 5.5 hours sleep and my lips were still sealed when I woke up. I thought I had a great new chinstrap, the Cardinal Tiarra-NOT!! I didn't put the cream on my lips, I wet my finger, put a little on, and then kinda smeared it on my bottom lip. I did wet my bottom lip first. After I applied the cream, I just held my lips together and got around for bed. I never checked it, just put my gear on and went to sleep. I used a dry paper towel to help get the stuff off after I kept rinsing with warm water. The clean ups the worst part. But it will keep your lips sealed

Second night on the Poligrip is as good as the first. My leak rate the first night was 10. I know that's not great, but with the chinstrap I was in the 12-17 range. Cleanup's not that much fun.

Hi Sleepy Boy,

I tried it once, and couldn't make it work. I'll have to try your technique. I found this forum about the same time as you did. Comin' here was the most helpful thing I have ever done for myself.

Hi Jan: Ain't it great?? More help here then anywhere. I've had 3 chinstraps and they work at first, then they get stretched out and quit working. I got 6.9 hours of sleep last night. My AHI was 7.1 I can't do that good with a chin strap. I know the left side of my Swift LT pillow leaks a tiny bit, but the Poligrip is working great for me. I know it's not good to tape&paste, but so far it's all I've found. I don't like the tape at all. Thanks, Larry..

3 nights on the Poligrip, and it's working good..I'm sleeping good without the chin strap. I'm getting 6.5 hours of sleep, my AHI is 7.1 a little high, but better than before.. I was hoping some of you that tried this stuff would post up about your experiences with it...Thanks, Larry....

Larry,

Did you read about JoyD's funny experience with the strips? I've been hoping that she has seen what you are writing!

I think you and JoyD should get together for 'sealing your mouth' clinics...she can show how not to do it and you can show how to do it

Here is Joy's thread on the experience:
