Question about REM latency.

Post by lanndi » Tue May 12, 2009 10:46 am

I asked this yesterday, but with a different heading that was misleading. My apologies to any who saw it yesterday.

I just received my sleep study report. One of the interesting findings on my report is that my REM latency was 321 min. Since the average time to get to REM is 90-120 min, what do you think it means that it took me more than 5 hours to get there?

Yes, it means how long before you reached REM stage. Mine was something like 240 minutes - if I recall correctly. That is one of the problems of SA, that you spend less time in the deeper stages of sleep, sometimes due to latency and sometimes due to arousal once in a deeper stage of sleep.
