My RemStar AUTO doesn't seem to write to the card

Post by dsm » Thu Aug 11, 2005 7:19 pm

Have been participating in a study & at the beginning I put the supplied card (the one that came with the machine) in the rdr slot & confirmed the card icon showed up in the bottom right of the display on the RemStar.

I was to send card 1 in after 7 days then use card 2 for 3 more weeks (started 5 weeks ago).

Sent in the card to the study clinic but they said there was nothing on it.

They sent me two cards to use (some mention of the card being set up with a person's name on it).

After 3 weeks sent the next card in. Same problem, no data.

I am not aware of anything that needs to be done to start the cardwriter working other than to plug the card in.

1) Is there some step I haven't performed ?

2) Is it possible the new machine is faulty ?

3) If it should be working, has anyone else had a problem like this with a new machine from cpap.com

(if it is a defect, there is nothing I can do as the cost of posting the machine back to US & its return, is so high as to make it uneconomical )

Cheers

PS to eliminate the obvious (card in wrong way), I put it in upside down & immediately the display reghistered an error. I turned off, removed the card, powered up, put it back in the way I usually do, little icon showed up as normal.

The data on the card may be getting damaged in transit to the study clinic. Can you record a few days of data and hand deliver the card somewhere to be read?
Sincerely,

I will arrange to take my machine in & have them try a card they just read on another machine.

A visit may be the only certain way.

Are you reading the data before you send it in?

I am aware of that gotcha

Actually I had planned to buy a reader & software but have held off as I am becoming more & more convinced that I won't have the time to play with the info.

My job is about to get very hectic for an extended spell.

Cheers
