DYI Boil & Bite mouth guard

Post by Sleepless on LI » Wed Aug 10, 2005 7:46 pm

I just got done re-reading the post on Talk About Sleep's message boards, after finding the thread's link in one of Restedgal's posts, http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/message-b ... php?t=4750
and have what is probably going to be a very obvious and ignorant question, but I need to ask it.

When you put the first guard in your mouth to shape it, are you shaping it for the top teeth or the bottom teeth? I am try to envision how it will work when it's done and for some weird reason thought it should be placed on the bottom row. It doesn't appear that way from the photos, so I thought I probably was wrong and need someone to clarify it for me.

I am trying the Tegaderm patch tonigiht to see if it works better than the mole skin I used last night (came loose at 3 AM). If that works and I still have lips left after removing it in the morning, I will stick with the patch for now. But if it's too painful upon removal or it comes loose, too, I will try the DYI mouth guard and see if that will work for me.

I'l tell you, nobody would ever say being on this therapy is easy. If it's not the mask, it's mouth breathing, or pressure soars, or leaks...wait a minute, those ARE all mask-related. Damn those masks!!! Only kidding. Without them, we wouldn't reap all the rewards this therapy has to offer us. It's hard work, but so worth every second of effort we put in. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!!! Please remind me of it when I post a frustrated thread in the future... ~

DIY is for the top teeth. Another idea to prevent mouth breathing is to use a 3' (approx) length of self-stick 2" Ace bandage wrapped around the mouth.

Which will make me look like in the movies when they tie someone to a chair and wrap something around their mouth so they can't talk??? This just gets better and better. Then will I have to worry not only about swoosh lines from my Swift, but Ace bandage lines, too? I can't stand all this fun, it's killing me!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, really !
