Introduction to Chinstraps -great read

Post by potholerepairman » Sat Oct 17, 2009 2:21 pm

Hello all, as a tip I hope no one else needs I'll share that the chinstrap is suppose to go on the outside of the headgear .The mask and headgear work so much better that way.I know both ways though.

thanks kteague, Forgot to post the link. On the cpap.com site its the how to video on all chinstraps. I was putting the chinstrap on first thinking that the mouth closed was of most importance thus trying to eliminate that first. The chinstrap on first made everything move a lot more on me.

Thanks. Oh, if that's the same avatar you've had up, I'm a little slow. Thought it was just some halloween mask till I just now took a closer look.

Thank you for posting the video! I've tried the chin strap with the chin cutout--that one absolutely does not work for me unless I try to use a non-hole part of it--my mouth opens right up. I've gone back to what oddly is the perfect angle and works, an eye mask with Velcro closure that I bought from CVS when I was trying to protect my eyes from a mask that refused to fit right and seeped air. I violate the straps-over-the-mask rule, and I think it works for me only because the eye mask straps are so minimal. I could not make the "real" chin strap function on top of my Swift LT for Her without disrupting the mask fit beyond repair, and putting those straps under the Swift wouldn't work either. I suspect the issue is that the Swift has so few strap controls and is intended to have the pillows just rest against the nostrils rather than pressed down. Anyway, I'm happy.
