Re: Swift LT - Shortness of Breath

I find the same with my Swift LT, but only about every second or third time I use it, and I can't explain why it happens - I don't change anything (strap tension, angle of pillow, etc.). Once it happens, I just cannot seem to do anything about it, so I just put the Swift away for the night, put on m...

Re: Experience of Ontario Canada CPAP users?

I definitely second Hawthorne's comments - lousy service, RTs with little knowledge, sleep doctor who spends 5 minutes with you, and obscenely high prices. I got my machine through a DME, but bought my masks (brand new) for less than 1/3 their prices on CPAP Auction. I go to my DME (occasionally) on...

Re: Need help with the Swift LT Nasal pillows

I also seem to have random, intermittent problems with the Swift LT - it will work great for a few days, then, typically, I'll wake up in the middle of the night with leaks, discomfort, etc., and find I'm just not able to adjust the Swift no matter what I do. At that point, I just give up, and switc...

Re: Different pressures for different types of masks?

OK - thanks again for the further comments. And yes, I have changed the machine settings for mask type each time I've changed masks. I will continue to experiment, collect data, try to get some insight from my clinician, and report back when and if I come up with something definitive.

Re: How long is 'okay' for an apnea?

I've pretty well started at the same time - still getting the occasional 1 to 4 apneas - they all seem to take between 11 and 14 seconds. Curiously, most of mine seem to occur in the 4 to 7 am period.

Re: Different pressures for different types of masks?

I have not changed the pressure - I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this situation, and, if so, whether they did try a different pressure setting for each type of mask.

Different pressures for different types of masks?

Hi all - I've been alternating between a nasal pillow (Swift LT) and a full face mask (ResMed Quattro FFM) - I prefer the Quattro, frankly, but I consistently get higher AHIs with it (8-12 range) than with the Swift (3-5 range). Leakage is not a problem with either. I'm only at a pressure of 7, but ...

Thanks, folks - with this information, I was actually able to see how the events were counted and how the indices were calculated.

Need help interpreting ResMed software graph

Hi all - I'd really appreciate if someone could explain to me just what this graph shows - I asked my DME (they're the ones who produced it for me, by running the Resmed software when I brought in my Elite II data card), but the two therapists I talked to admitted they didn't know. Here's the clip: ...

Re: Benefits of going to full face mask from nasal pillows

Dget me wrong - I'm keeping the Swift LT too, and planning to alternate between them. BTW, I was surprised how well the Quattro stood up to tossing and turning (I sleep on my side), given that that was supposed to be one of the advantages of the nasal pillows. That's probaboy because my DME fitted i...

Re: Benefits of going to full face mask from nasal pillows

Hi Hosehead: actually, the DME had nothing to do with any of the choices or changes - they were completely passive about it. It's only because of my initiative (based mostly on the confidence and knowledge I got from this forum) that I got to try the different items

Benefits of going to full face mask from nasal pillows

Hi all - I'm a newbie who's so appreciative of all the wonderful knowledge I've found on this forum - I've been looking for an opportunity to contribute something worthwhile myself, that hasn't been addressed before, and I offer up the following for your consideration: When I first went to my DME, a...

Re: Intro from newbie in Canada

Hi all - I'm another newbie from Canada (5 days, now - and finally getting some restful sleep).

I too have Great West Life as my insurer, and also have the $2000 provision. Do you know if they would actually cover two masks as part of the initial purchase?
