I didn't realize how much cpap has helped me...

I didn't realize how much cpap was helping me until this past weekend. I was going away for two nights, on a sister's weekend getaway. On the drive to the hotel, I told my sister I felt like I was forgetting something. I had packed my bag with all my clothes, packed my cpap equipment, and the hose m...

proudaunt, your experience ranks right along with these: Aug 18, 2005 subject: Worst CPAP moment http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=4223 (humming Itsy Bitsy Spider...) Cool new words for that little tune, Kathy! will never again hear itsy bitsy spider without visualizing a mask being pulled of...

I think I can talk about this now...

A week ago tonight, i went to bed as normal. I put on my mask, attached the hose, snuggled into bed and turned out the light. I rolled onto my stomach to get into my favorite sleeping position. For a split second, I felt like something had pushed up into my nose. Knowing I'd NEVER get to sleep if I ...

What to use for dry lips?

Since i've been on cpap, my lips get VERY dry at night. My data download a few days ago at the DME shows no leaks, so that's not the cause. I do have a bit of an overbite, so my mouth is always open slightly, and with the air pressure, licking them is tough. I have been using a night-time lip therap...

Re: Finally got initial sleep study result need help deciphering

Well you should absoutely see your Dr. I work for a pulmonologist and I can tell you that you will probably be diagnosed with severe OSA (obstructive sleep apnea). They will probably put you back in the sleep lab for a CPAP titration study. Following that sleep study, I was indeed diagnosed with, i...

Re: Finally got initial sleep study result need help deciphering

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions, TSSleepy. Your responses have helped a lot. The good news is I have been on cpap for just over 4 weeks now, and my AHI is down to 3.1 and I have had zero large mask leaks. It's been a very long process, but I'm finally getting used to sleeping wit...

Finally got initial sleep study result need help deciphering

Initial sleep study was on February 23rd and I finally got the results of it yesterday, April 8th. My appointment with the sleep study doctore isn't until next week, but my DME graciously gave me a copy of it so I would know what was going on. I'm still pretty new to all of this, so I don't complete...

Re: Which hose management system?

Like others here, I use the Hozer system. Since it is the only one I've used, I have nothing to use for comparison purposes. However, I do not need anything else. This product is excellent and works very well for me. The hose used to be a huge issue for me, always in my way as I turned throughout th...

Re: Blue Cross-Blue Shield and Cpap

I have Anthem Blue Cross here in Connecticut. I paid a $10 co-pay for my initial appointment with the sleep doctore. Other than that, I have not paid a dime for anything, including either of the two sleep studies, the cpap machine, or mask. The DME told me I have excellent insurance, which I already...

Even after 11 hours of sleep last night, on and off, I'm still feeling like I'm in a fog today.

Re: I'm trying to be patient, but.....

Your early cpap experience is the course of many. Sounds like you're doing due diligence and conquering your issues one by one. Lest you you be frustrated from what seems to you to be too much time passing, consider that if you are going to count time, start counting after the major issues are reso...

Re: I'm trying to be patient, but.....

If you are leaking pressure or if your pressure is not set correctly, then your treatment may not be working. Do you have the software? Can you give us an idea of your prescribed pressure, and/or efficacy data? My prescribed pressure is set for 10-20. I haven't met with the sleep dr since my initia...
