Hi,first I would like to thank the forum members for all the information.
Next, some background. I have gone through three sleep studies, two titration's.I had to do the second titration because the sleep tech would wake me up every time I rolled onto my back during the first titration. As I was leaving in the morning he made the comment"I did not let you sleep on your back because I couldn't find a pressure that would keep your airway open." I discovered this board after the study and found out here that I should have been titrated on my back as well as my side.
I then complained to the owners at the time I was to pick up the machine. They gave me another study free of charge, where I was kept on my back the entire night.
I told the DME that I wanted a fully data capable machine, they tried to talk me out of it.They tried to sell me a low grade machine on a 10 month contract. The owner said if I wanted a fully data capable machine I would have to "Go down the road to get it." I am going down the road.
So from reading here I am going to get the REMstar Pro M with C Flex, encore viewer with card reader.I am not quite sure on which nasel mask to get.It will be either the mirage swift II of LT. I sleep on my side as much as possible.I would be grateful for any opinions on my choice of equipment. Also I am not interested in an auto machine.Thanks.

I would want the AUTO, because it can cover all the bases, options are good to have. I would get a https://www.cpap.com/productpage/fisher ... ifier.html instead of the one that comes with the Remstar "M"agic series. https://www.cpap.com/ is a good reliable company to buy from, I got my new equiptment from them. If you do order, remember to get the filters in bulk too, with orders over $100 shipping is free and they price match. Jim

Welcome to the forum!!!!
I'd have to agree with Jim......Unless it's a cost issue get an Auto machine. It gives you the best of both worlds. It will run CPAP mode if that's what you want, but if things don't look that good on the data, you can set it to Auto mode and titrate yourself!!!
Masks are really individual. For a nasal interface I can recommend the Activa mask. Very nice. Very comfortable. Doesn't leak much if you set it up right and it's the right size....
That's the deal with masks -- make sure it's the right size!!!! Size matters!!!!
If it seems like you have to crank it down tight to get it to seal, it's the wrong size - masks generally should be loose.
If it leaks and leaks and leaks and no matter what you do (including cranking it down) it still leaks, it's probably the wrong size.
If it leaves a red mark on your nose, or makes your teeth hurt from the lower seal pressing on them, it's probably the wrong size....
If you are a mouth breather and don't get or want a full face mask, tape, polident strips or a chin strap. I can recommend the Pur-Sleep PAP-Cap for a great chin strap. It can also replace your factory headgear on a lot of masks....(you can try the essential oils also -- aroma therapy helps a lot of people getting used to their machine. For me it eliminated that "plastic odor"...)
Just a few things......Be sure to check out the lightbulb above (our collective wisdom), and the section for new users....there is a ton of good info there.
Good luck
cheers

Thanks for your reply Jim. The reason I am not interested in the auto is when I tried it I felt like I was not getting enough air. Also the machine would shut off before I was done inhaling.I was comfortable at 12/H2O prs. straight CPAP.Thanks for reminding me about the FP humidifier,I will go with that one.

Welcome to the message board chetc.
It's good that you are purchasing the software. That will help you tremendously in monitoring your own treatment. You're doing a good thing for yourself, chetc.
Good for you, chetc!chetc wrote:I told the DME that I wanted a fully data capable machine, they tried to talk me out of it.They tried to sell me a low grade machine on a 10 month contract. The owner said if I wanted a fully data capable machine I would have to "Go down the road to get it." That's a very good machine. Like goofproof said, I'd not want the M humidifier. I'd get a separate Fisher & Paykel HC 150 heated humidifier, and use that with the Pro machine. For mask, I'd get the Swift LT rather than the Swift II.chetc wrote:So from reading here I am going to get the REMstar Pro M with C Flex, encore viewer with card reader.I am not quite sure on which nasel mask to get.It will be either the mirage swift II of LT. If the mask made you sore, it may be that it's the wrong size.....
When you try masks, make sure you try them laying down (unless you sleep standing up or sitting in a chair.... )
As before, size is very important and if it fits right, you almost forget it's there - -or at least I do...
Good luck!!!
take care
cheers
