Re: update on husband

wolfman I don't think we're looking at to cure sleep apnea just make his cpap more effective I do agree last resort we're going to see what the pulmonologist has to say and see if somehow we can optimize his CPAP therapy but the airway is so constricted that he's having troubles even during the day....

Re: update on husband

If he's having problems losing weight have you considered weight loss surgery first to see if he could lose that weight which would shrink his neck size and body mass. Just a thought. He's not that morbidly obese! yes we're both over weight but I think the weight loss surgery would be worse than th...

Re: update on husband

"There are machines that are capable of higher pressures than a standard CPAP, and even machines designed as adaptive servo ventilators (ASV) that can resolve apnea in persons that lack respiratory effort." It's not that he lacks the effort! the efforts there--the air just isn't getting thru. No CA'...

Re: update on husband

obese yes we both are but he's been that way for a while hasn't gained more weight for 10 or more years (he's weighed about the same) now we're just having issues. and NO to diabetes. he's been checked although the dr. (ENT) that we saw today said it might be a good idea to get his thyroid checked.

A couple of weeks ago, I made a post reguarding my husband and a recent sleep study (new) he has severe OSA even with the CPAP. Re: Question

He's been on CPAP for 6 years now already. We finally convinced him to go have another study because he was having so many issues. I think when the dr. read the results and saw the 84 he probably thought that was without the CPAP before my husband explained to him (or rather reminded him) that he wa...

Re: Question

Update on husband. Dr just called today saying that his AHI with the CPAP is at 84. Wanted to get him a CPAP machine until he realized that WAS WITH the CPAP!! Now waiting for appt with ENT to see if somehow they can open him up so he can breathe!! He said he could try to raise pressures but didn't ...

Re: Question

Just to fill you in a little more--Right now he uses the REsmed comfort gel mask and has mostly used that mask for the entire 6 years that he's been dxed. (not the same mask just the same type and brand.) it seems to work the best for him however when the pressure gets above 13-15 it leaks up top to...

Re: cpap w/oxygen

I sleep with oxygen and have a concentrator at home. when I travel, my supplier has portable consontrators that they loan out at no additional costs. very convients and they're pretty light weight. you might want to check with your supplier.

Question

I haven't been here in a while but i'm doing great. as a refresher and for those that don't know, my husband and I both have cpaps. After much convincing I finally got my husband to have another sleep study because he's been snoring a lot more and having other issues. Last night he had that study an...

Re: Heart rate??

Yes I wear an oximeter at night and plug this info into SH (that's why I know I have alot of ups and downs.) As far as menopause goes I went thru that a long time ago when I had a complete hysterectomy when I was only 30! I am also on straight CPAP at pressure of 10! I know I'm dealing with PSVT, At...

Heart rate??

Can heart rate drops and spikes prevent you from getting a good nights sleep?? My AHI's are really good so I shouldn't be having a lot of arousals like I have. The only thing I can figure is my heat rate. At times it dips into the 30's at night and averages between 40 and 55 at night with frequent s...

Re: Centrals?

very good points. I don't have that many centrals and my AHI is under 1 which is very good but most of the time when i'm having events they are centrals. now there have only been a few times when i can actually see where the heart rate slows way down during a central.

Centrals?

IF you're having centrals can (and I'n not saying in every case it does in fact probably in 99.9% percent of the cases it doesn't ) that mean that your heart is pausing?? just curious because I have a known history of sinus pauses sometimes at night and I'm on an antiarrythmic drug as well. I notice...
