Just got the new Opus 360-odd/unexpected changes....

Post by greenvelvetdragon » Thu Mar 12, 2009 7:48 pm

Well its been 4 nights with my new Opus 360 and I think it will work but was not quite what I was expecting . I LOVE my original Opus, and therefore made the foolish assumption the new and improved model would be the ultimate, my own panacea I guess....hmmmm.

In the original mask i used the medium pillows with a bit of tweaking to bring the pillows closer together for leak stoppage, they were brilliant, now with the new model i have had to go to the large size as the medium and small leaked like there was no tomorrow. The large is also tweaked and this part is brilliant as i have zip leaks, but the bigger size is causing soreness until i toughen up (again) so out comes the aloe vera gel. I do like the shape of the new pillows as they don't sit so close to my lip, but I have found that a bit odd and unfamiliar.

The headgear on the other hand is just a another matter. Its totally different to the original, and sits very differently on my head. I had the original rather loose and that worked very well, it does not in the new version, I have had to tighten it considerably and I think this will take some getting used to. This is the first time I have ever changed masks from my original after my study in 2007, and as i live in the middle of no-where, its just very hard bordering on impossible to try before buying, which is why i stuck with the Opus. Which btw I purchased on-line from the supplier I got my machine and original mask from, and they have been brilliant as they are also in the same state I am located in so they get what living remote means and have been very accommodating.

I think in the end I am sure I will be very satisfied with my new mask, but change is always hard but neccessary and can be good for the soul IMO.

Thanks heaps to those who have posted pictures of their new Opus so I had some idea as to what to expect.

I would also like to say thanks to all the wonderful, helpful, supportive and knowledgeable people on this forum. This site has been a lifeline for me on my OSA journey. You guys rock

cheers
GVD
