I'm starting to live but

Post by junie » Thu Mar 12, 2009 7:12 pm

Since I bought the mask Oplilife I'm doing alot better and the help I received from all of you,
I'm really learning from reading topics and the replies, I have a couple of questions to ask, I'm
still tired and sleeping off and on, My Dr. did change my pain meds. I don't feel like I'm druged tired
anymore just tired, My pressure #9 has been at that setting for about a year, and my c-flex has
been at #2, that is all I know, I have that plus machine, I'm starting to save my money to buy a
better machine it's going to take a while for me. Do you think I should change any of my settings
if so how would I do this? Thank you so much for this group. I forgot I'm taking provilgil

Well, I'm no expert by any means. Hopefully some more expereinced users will chime in here too. It's hard to tell if you should change any of your settings without any data. Does the PLUS machine you have give you any on-screen information, like AHI, leak rate, or anything else? I have the M series Auto which is data capable and have the software and reader for it and have been able to use it to tweak my setting to where they worked the best. Hard to do without that data though. I have heard that pain meds can actually affect your sleep pattern and cause problems. I've been on some very strong ones for the last several weeks since my heart surgery and find that these meds definitely mess with my sleep. I too am normally on provigil, just not at the moment. I did find that it helped tremendously, but not near as much as effective CPAP treatment did though. I'm hoping Provigil won't be necessary when I'm allowed to go back to work. Anyway, those are my thoughts for what they're worth.

Tracy

Judy,
What you didn't say was how are you sleeping? Are you sleeping all night or are you getting up throughout the night?

The only way to know is to get another machine with data card and monitoring software. You can use the software to monitor apneas, hypopneas, snores, and mask leaks. What you see there can guide you in the steps, if any, you need to take.
