I really want...

Post by Rockin Mama » Thu Mar 12, 2009 1:28 pm

`A Respironics ComfortGel full face mask but i can't afford one and don't get another mask for a few more months, im thinking maybe a different mask will help me achieve a smaller leak rate..

anyone have a medium I'd be willing to pay but hopefully not a lot.

I think you can get pretty good prices on http://www.cpapauction.com. Never used that site, but that's what I've heard around here.

Good luck!

Just a heads up...

Lots of people find these "eat" the bridges of their noses. They can be pretty painful. There are, however, people that swear by them (just like any other mask). You might want to do a search on ComfortGel here and see what you find before you order one, if you haven't already.
Machine: M-Series Auto
Mask: Headrest
No humidifier
On the hose since 2005.

This was the mask I wanted, and the DME said they didn't have any, so i ended up with the Mirage Quattro, The ComfortGel is the one that got used on me in my sleep study.

I was just looking at ComfortGel mask the other day on cpapauction.com.

The DME had given a ProfileLite mask, which I thought was good (I feel like I'm trying to sleep at least that good again)...except it ate out the bridge of my nose....so I have wondered if the adjustable bridge of the ComfortGel would help or not....

Well, they also gave you grief over which machine you wanted. Why not go back to them and tell them the mask they gave you isn't working well, and you want them to get you a ComfortGel?

My comfort gel is working very well. I'd like to try some other masks though. Too bad they cost so much.

Hi,
I have the Mirage Quattro also. It caused a sore on the bridge of my nose, leaks weren't bad, but it hurt. A bit of moleskin on the bridge of my nose and a piece on each of the forehead pieces helped a lot. Then, after reading hints here, I did some more adjusting. First thing is to be sure the forehead adjustment is all the way out, not in. loosen the forehead straps until they hold the forehead piece, but not tightly. When putting on the mask, set the bottom part first, then let it lay on your nose, being sure the cushion is poofy, not squished. I found that I was placing the mask too far down on my nose bridge and as soon as I moved the mask up a little bit, the sore nose went away and the leaks stopped altogether. I rarely have any leaks showing on my report at all. Oh, one more thing I did: I took a piece of an ace bandage and wrapped it around my head, across my forehead and then put on the mask. It stopped any "dents" or irritation on my forehead from the mask moving a bit while I slept. It looks really cute, too. Not, but who cares, I'm comfy with it. There are more glamorous solutions, but it was what I had on hand at the moment, and it works. I really think the key to the Quattro is not to have it on too tight, just snug enough to hold it in place. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Oh wait...you're talking about the ComfortGel full face mask? I was looking at the Nasal mask.

I suppose I'm on the look out for a full face mask...just in case....

If you are looking for the nasal mask, I have one you can have. The headgear was used for a month (you can wash it, yes?) but the cushion is brand new and sealed. I may even have two. You can have whatever I can find. i don't use a nasal mask anymore and I am happy to help.

PM me . Just please pay-it-forward one day.

ah crap, i just realized you wanted the ff mask. sorry.

well, any other active member want a comfortgel medium nasal mask? I dont want to see it end up in the cpap.auction, so active members please.

Eric

Have you tried the ultra mirage ffm yet? It is the only mask I can use. I tried the quattro without luck. The comfort gel full did not work either...felt like an octopus on your face. Try the ultra mirage if you get a chance.
