Re: Do some docs (and others) want us to stay stupid?

I'm not speaking for everyone, only myself. I know that where I work I am not allowed to give any medical advice or talk with a pt about their results. I simply do the hookups, data acquisition and CPAP titrations when needed. I'm not sure why anyone would not want to give you proper information. It...

Re: Humidifier Helpful?

Needed, no. However, from the stand point of some yes. If you have a higher pressure or are more susceptible to dry mouth or nose then yes its needed. It is primarily for comfort and can make the difference between compliance and a happy user and someone who quits because it is uncomfortable or beca...

Re: SPO2 Levels

Whats a normal SPO2? That depends on the individual. That being said a healthy, non smoker can be around 98% give or take. If you have a cold or bronchitis then your lung efficiency will be down, resulting in a lower SPO2. During REM your body slows down your heart rate and your SPO2 goes down. This...

Re: Why do numbers go up when pressure does?

I'm still looking. I have yet to find a place that implicitly states this however, after reading 10+ scientific journals on OSA I have come to the conclusion that an AHI of <5 has no statistical significance on the increase of health problems or sleep architecture. In other words and AHI of <5 is st...

Re: Why do numbers go up when pressure does?

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I've been rather According to the International Classification of Sleep Disorders: Diagnostic and Coding Manual, Second Edition, 14 at least 1 of the following criteria must apply for OSA to be diagnosed: * The patient reports daytime sleepiness, unre...

Re: 15 months and still tired

How goes it? I was just reading your post and though you might want to consider a MSLT. I've never done one, and I'm not a doctor but you might want to look into it. I don't know what you do for a job. However truckers, airplane pilots and other professions that require long periods wake with little...
