Re: AHI of 2.1 is good enough ?
Jerry... I respectfully disagree with the others...and the medical industry...that says an AHI of 5.0 or below is OK. My experiments have shown me that effective therapy doesn't really occur until I'm below an AHI of 2.5. I work very hard to stay at or below an AHI of 1.0 and I'm getting great resul...

Re: Looking for best tape for mouth taping !
Dan.... Here's what you need to know about 3M 2" Blue #2080 tape for Delicate Surfaces. It's great stuff....and not too expensive at Lowe's. Every night, I use a strip about 10" long. I fold the ends down 1/2" to make removal "handles". I apply horizontally so that my lips are positioned in the midd...

Re: C-Reactive Protein
I've suspected (for a long time) that an elevated CRP level is an indication of arterial infection....probably like pimples or little boils on the interior lining of the arteries. There is some thought that the bacterial culprit might be the same bug that causes gum disease...or the bug associated w...

Re: The Truth Wears Off
Most of us are "hard wired" with the Scientific Method at birth. The ability to separate truth from BS is slowly worn down by the fraudsters in our culture. Some of us are able to resist, but most lose their ability to think independently.

Re: Husband w/OSA wakes up at 4 a.m. consistently - ideas???
Add a couple of gauges......... Purchase a battery powered BP machine......Measure his blood pressure the minute he wakes up at 4:00 AM. Purchase an Oximeter to check his O2 levels all night. Since you're also a hose head, you'll find the device useful too. The BP machine and the Oximeter will give ...

Just use bottled drinking water.....and drain the tank completely every three or four days.
You'll do fine with drinking water.

Blondie... Your attitude is wonderful....and you'll do well. Soon enough you'll grow to love your CPAP machine and mask. there are some "tricks" to all this.......and I'll try to help you with a few. Patience........It takes time...a year or so...before you conquer the process. Don't get in a hurry....

Cowlypso... The answer to your problem is a "string wick" made from cotton butcher's string. I had the same problem (exhaled breath condensation) in my Headrest Aura mask....and insertion of a piece of thick cotton string was the perfect fix. Your mask is different than mine....but I can send pictur...

Re: any ideas on why I don't feel better with cpap?
You must answer your own question....with charts and graphs generated by your own reporting software. you must take charge of your own therapy by using good common sense....and the same tools that many of us use. if you have no software that reports on your progress every night, you'll continue your...

Re: Help! Taking my mask off EVERY night!!!
You may be taking it off because your sub-conscious (the brain that's "in charge" while we're sleeping) is not fully convinced that you need CPAP therapy...or that you'll die an early death without it.
Sell the CPAP therapy idea to your sub-conscious and you won't have any more problems.

Rosacre....
Thanks for the heat-shrink-tubing idea. It's in my supply kit that I use for electrical tinkering...but i had never thought about using it with my CPAP fabricating. Your idea will be the difference between "failure" and "it works" sometime in the future.....

I very rarely experience any leaks with my Headrest mask. When I first started using it, I was using the wrong nose-piece...and the fit was incorrect. I experimented with the other nose-piece and got a better seal when I started using it. I suspect that your sealing difficulty stems from an incorrec...

Many of us are using 3M 2" wide #2080-EL Blue Delicate Release Painter's Tape from Lowe's. It seems to offer the best value. When removing, DO NOT pull straight away from your face. Pull the tape over itself....pull parallel to your face....and you'll experience no discomfort. I've logged over a tho...

Re: Mouth leaks
The tape many of us use is 3M 2" #2080EL Blue Painter's Tape from Lowe's. It's inexpensive and works very well. I much prefer tape to using a full face mask. Removal is easy and without discomfort if pulled parallel to the face (not perpendicular to the face). I use a piece of tape about 10" long......

Re: Need help with spouse's fear
Your husband is intellectually dishonest. You are pushing on a string. About all you can do is warn him...once....that untreated sleep apnea causes many different problems...including stroke, enlarged heart, high blood pressure....and all sorts of other bad stuff. Explain that you cannot be responsi...
