Re: Trying to find the right settings.

First, I have had the experience you have, of increasing the pressure, getting better scores, then slowly seeing an increase in AHI. I can't explain why it is happening, but I have moved from my titrated number of 7 to 10 as my minimum, pressure. At this point I am waiting to find out the results of...

Re: Continued troubles sleeping

I don't know what pressure you are starting with, but you could ask that the machine start with a pressure that will handle your apneas. That way it doesn't have to increase pressure suddenly. Since you will be having a titration, it would be good to have the tech see what pressure works to handle t...

Re: Data, at last!

I'm running off to see my pulmonologist, so don't have a lot of time. Just wanted to say I am thinking about you, and hope something can be found to help. I have a couple of ideas that I will come back to later. In the meantime, it is very common in our office to see people react strongly to very ti...

Re: Taking Provigil "as needed"?

I take Provigil as needed, without any problems. It jazzes me up too much to take every day, but I take it when I absolutely have to function and I am too tired. I don't take it often, less than once per month. If you took it more often, like every few days, it might work differently. Because I don'...

Re: Data, at last!

Well, I can't argue with that reasoning, since I've been doing well with straight CPAP at 12 cm so far. Maybe I just have to give it more time and see what, if any, patterns emerge with these flare-ups of high AHI numbers. I suppose if it only happened about twice a month, that wouldn't be so bad. ...

Re: Questions for those with asthma

Thanks everyone. I am learning alot here. Is the magnesium something I can buy at the store or do I need a dr to prescribe it? I guess it would be smarter to get tested for it first. Is it possible to OD on it? Missy Magnesium citrate is a supplement that can be bought online or in stores that have...

It sounds like they are being very thorough in tracking down what is causing your fatigue. Kinda feel like your health is your job right now? Good for you on following through with all of this! Remember to figure out some rewards for making it through all the testing and appointments. They can be ex...

Re: Questions for those with asthma

I don't have asthma, but do have another issue with my lungs that can cause wheezing. I did some research on things to help, and found that there is good research showing nebulized magnesium can relieve bronchial spasms in asthma. It can work as well as other inhalers. I have been using magnesium su...

Re: Noob here - several questions

I just want to add something, from one thrasher to another. First, I found that I moved around much less on CPAP. Sometimes I wake up and think I haven't moved all night! This may or may not be the case for you, but if your thrashing is due to breathing issues, you might get lucky. Second, I found h...

Re: OT: Vitamin D levels a question or two

I'm late to the party, but here is an excellent review of diagnosis and treatment of Vitamin D deficiency. I am involved with a group of doctors who are doing research into immunity issues, and this info is highly recommended. Of course, you should always consult your doctor on the use of any supple...

Re: How to interpret Resmed auto Set II/w EPR data

I do not have the software yet, so all I have to work with is the screen data. How can I tell what the max pressure it used to stop apneas and what the min was, so I could tweak the settings further. You can't. The LCD data only gives you the 95% pressure. This pressure or under is the pressure you...

Re: sores on bridge of nose

Hi Swan, I think this is a serious issue, and you shouldn't feel bad about expecting this should work better! First, if you are registered, you might want to go to the User Panel and fill out your equipment profile. Using the text option is the easiest for people to quickly see what mask and machine...

OOOhh! I don't have trouble with the mask leaks, but I have Sjogren's, which causes dry eye. These look like a deluxe way to help with that.
Thanks!

Re: Hypothyroid and sleep Apnea

most lagitimate dr.'s will tell you to stay away from Armour thyroid. The reason has nothing to do with drug companies as mary shannot tries to say. the reason is because MOST healthy people develop adrinal problems and have to go on to steriods and other harmful drugs to try to tolarate it. I say ...
