Turn off the machine during "pitstops"?

Post by stoveman » Tue Jul 26, 2005 7:09 pm

I just got MyEncore up & running and I'm wondering if I'm skewing some of the data because I just take the mask off when I go to the bathroom.

First, does that seem likely?

Second, will the Smartcard just pick up where it left off if I start & stop the machine?

Thanks

Pitstops

My approach to these is to

- remove mask from host connector
- turn off machine
- go & return
- turn on dehumidifier
- reconnect mask to hose
- turn on machine
- hit ramp button (unless nose has become congested as has happened after some pit stops)

I too am interested to know if this procedure will skew recorded data. (I suspect not).

Cheers

My recommendation would be to shut the machine off first and then remove the mask. Removing the mask from the face while the machine is running will show up as a LARGE mask leak on the Encore Pro software. Then, put the mask on and restart the machine. This will show up as a small gap on the timeline, but will keep the other data intact.

Wulfman, That makes good sense to me. I will adjust my procedure accordingly.

wulfman: Yes, thanks for that post! I've been taking my mask off before I turn the machine off as well.

Fortunately, mine is set to Auto On, so I don't have to turn it back on, though it took me a while to realize that the humidifier doesn't work the same way!
