Suckin wind in the midwest!

Post by AirHog » Fri Nov 26, 2004 7:52 pm

Well, well, well.......off on another one of life's little journeys, at least I can still use the term life. They tell me my sleep is bad ( whats a few little time-outs gonna hurt?) I thought. My wife warned me of my nocturnal stunts 11yrs ago and like many men I thought I could handle it, I mean it didn't even wake me up, I don't remember not breathing so whats the big deal?
A short time ago I noticed my heart would ache in the morning, my wife says my heart pounds so hard when I stop breathing it shakes the bed and wakes her. At almost 40yrs old I decided it was time to do something, pretty smart, huh. ( Yeah I'm a jackass for waiting so long)

Week ago fri went to the doc she checked my airway and made an appt for the sleep lab, luckily I got in the next night sat, they wired me up like a marionette puppet, I layed on my back and said " let's get on with the show" ten minutes later I was out, about two hours after that the technician came running into the room to put the mask on me, back to sleep, woke up at 5am bright eyed and ready rumble, I said " man I gotta get me one of those". Tue evening the dme rep was sitting at my dining room table showing me how to use my remstar pro c-flex and mirage swift.

So I'm a hosehead now, better than a snorehead I guess. I'm glad I found this forum, lots of good people and info in here. I want to thank all of you in advance you have already helped me out a bunch.

Wow. What a story!

What you said about the heart, I had the same thing.
My wierd sleep pattern was of me waking up in the nite, sitting up to the edge of my bed, wondering why I woke, and wondering why I wasn't anxious to lie down for more sleep. Didn't know why. This repeated almost every hour! And I'm single, so I don't usually have someone who notices my sleep pattern.

But I too felt my heart racing. Didn't make sense, because I knew the heart usually rests a little during sleep. And in the morning, my heart would "hurt". I was so alarmed, I went straight to a cardiologist convinced my heart was exploding and I was dying. It wasn't and I wasn't, not yet anyway, but the good doctor directed me to a sleep doctor.

I've only been on the machine for four days. Happily my heart doesn't "hurt". .....But my lungs sometimes feel like they've been doing light aerobics!

Enjoyed your descriptions. Please send us more!
