I received my script for the CPAP 2 days before going on vacation. The girl that assisted me gave me a quick lesson and felt sure I could follow through with the instruction book. I just hope I've used it correctly and that it will work for me. Also, my employer changed insurance carrier over the summer from Aetna to Blue Cross Blue Shield. I'm still on vacation and I don't know the status of my insurance. Does anyone have BLC/BLS?? Thanks Nana G

Nana G,

You are on vacation. Relax. Take it easy. Go fishing. Your insurance will still be there when you get back.

So, log off the computer, find a good book, enjoy some restful sleep and worry about everything else when your vacation is over.

Hi, Nana G. I'm also a BC/BS (Federal) subscriber. They cover stuff like this very well. They're paying 90% of everything for me.

Hope you're enjoying your vacation!

NanaG,
I have Empire BCBS and they pick up 100% of everything. I am picking up my Remstar Auto with C-Flex tomorrow that they bought me after renting a machine for one month. I have heard from Apria Healthcare, my DME, that they are one of the best to deal with and are not as "strict" as a lot of the other carriers. As long as you use the machine, they want to buy you one rather than rent it. And they were very open-minded when it came to my own personal preferences as to what I wanted, as long as your doctor backs you up with a scrip.
Good luck.

By the way Sleep,

Can you tell me where you did your sleep study.....? I just had one done at Mather Hospital. Just talked to my Dr today and he told me that from what results I seem to suffering from sleep apnea, and have to go for another sleep study with a cpap device.

Can you tell me the if the equipment you are using is the same one you used during your sleep study?

Hi KenandJudy. Welcome. Mather Hopt. in Pt. Jeff...Good hospital. I had my studies done in Ronkonkoma, at Advanced Sleep and Breathing Disorders. They did the same thing for me. First one study to see if you have a problem with apnea/hypopneas and then the second study to hook you up to a machine and find your pressure (titrate).

I did not have the same equipment as I was hooked up to when I had my study. First the insurance company rented me a pretty basic machine for 30 days. All it had "extra" was a ramp feature. They also gave me an external heated humidifier. After the 30 days and they called to see if I was using it and if it was helping, which was a huge YES to both questions, they said they would buy me my own machine. At that point, I got cracking and did all my inquiring and got a great machine, the Remstar Auto with CFlex. Then I bought the software and card reader so I could monitor my own progress and keep tabs on if the pressure I was using was helping and now I can actually make my own adjustments accordingly.

Let me know what they have in store for you after your second study. Any questions you have, I will be happy to answer if I know the answer. If not, there are so many informed and helpful people on this site who will.

Keep in touch and good luck.
