pressure of resmed s8

Post by apost » Fri Jan 23, 2009 8:50 pm

hey does anyone out there have a problem with the resmed s8 elite? i have already returned 2 of them , and i am about to return the 3rd one!!! the machines seem to work fine for a couple of weeks, but then each night after about 5-6 hours a dramatic increase in pressure (and noise) occurs.it blows my mouth open. it happens about 2 or 3 times . each occurance only lasts 30 seconds but it wakes me up. sometimes right before the pressure increases it actually feels like the machine has turned off for a second. i need to get more than 5 hours of sleep, and i am thinking about switching in this cpap for another brand/model.

I have the S8 AutoSet II. If you are dissatisfied with what you have give it a try. I love mine.

have you considered using a full face mask? mouth leaks (which are what you are describing) are rather common

Do you have the Humidaire 3i or 4i integrated humidifier? Are you snapping the cover of the humidifier securely. About half way thru the night shortly after I got my first Resmed, the Resmed S8 Elite, I was startled awake by a rattle chatter that almost sent me to the ceiling! That happened 3-4 times before I realized that I hadn't been careful to snap the cover down securely.
