Better with Quattro but new questions

Post by caffeine please » Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:01 am

Thank-you for everyones input. I don't know what I would do without this forum except run naked down the street screaming I have decided to try my best to make the Quattro work. My sleep was improved some last night but have some questions. First, this is what I did:

I "teflon taped" the elbow
I have a 10 ft hose-I moved the hook that I hang it from closer to me so that the hose does not pull on the mask
I slept more with my face into my pillow which works great

The issue is the air that comes out of the port at the top of the elbow blowing into my face which is disruptive. What is the best way to keep that in a position so that does not happen? and...

air from the vent holes blowing into my face. And this may be a stupid question but if the force of the air from the vent holes increases, does that mean the pressure has increased or is there a problem somewhere else? I know they have to be there for safety reasons, but any suggestions?

Now That's a pretty picture!

You can tape that also but loose some swivel functionality.

The holes are there to maintain fresh air supply (flushes out the mask). If the hose is pointing up and over the holes it affects the air flow, makes noise and the machine "seems" to increase pressure. This especially when side sleeping as I think the hose gets closer to the mask.

I have played with the hose arrangement and find a definite difference when it's pointing up. Leave the hose up for a minute or so then move it down and you'll get fresher air like a window opening. The sound level drops likewise. I got an 8' hose and try to keep it pointing down which is a lot easier now that I have a fleece hose cover.

It's going to be okay in the end; if it's not okay, it's not the end.

Thank-you. Good advice - now I can leave my clothes on
