Went to Target today to check out the shapeable pillow famous on this message board. The shapeable pillows in stock did not seem to be nearly as 'liquidy' as described. They felt almost like ordinary pillows. I wonder if the manufacturer has changed or is now over-stuffing them?
However I noticed a stack of $19.99 body pillows nearby with the very slippery liquid feel described. So I bought one those instead.
The body pillow may be a bit understuffed to use as a head pillow, but a little experimenting showed that the firmness could be easily adjusted by simply shaking down more of the stuffing into one end and then folding the other end under.
Someone willing to sew just a bit could even make two regular pillows out of such a body pillow simply by sewing a couple rows of stitching across the middle and cutting the halves apart. The two halves could be made with different amounts of firmness.
I'm toying with the idea of using a needle and thread to hand sew a few different firmness zones into the body pillow.
Have been using a Mediflow water pillow for last 10 years and like it -- just looking for something softer and more squishy.
