Researching new mask options

Post by taijimon » Fri Jul 15, 2005 4:41 pm

This is my first post, so please bare with me. I have been using my equipment now for about 2 months. I have utilized 3M mirofoam tape and customized a "nose guard" to minimize the nose bridge abrasion situation
with my current mask. Searching and reading some of the posts has been very informative and helpful. However, most pressures seem to be a lot lower than mine (18 insp/20 exhp). Given that I have not read every post and reply, I am looking at the Breeze, Aura and Swift nasal pillows. I would greatly appreciate any feedback, advice, suggestions from persons perhaps with similar equipment and situation. Thanks for your help !

Endeavor to persevere in the Balance of Life...

I've only used the Swift. I like it finally. It is noisy. As compared to others, I don't really know how noisy. But would like to know. Leakage is very slight, and the feel of the mask itself has never bothered me, so I s'pose it is good. I've been on xpap since March and I have BCBS and have been told I can get a new mask as needed. So I, like you, would like to try something else. I can't breathe at all with even the least bit of pressure on the bridge of my nose, so pillows are pretty much my only choice, I guess. I would like to know which of the pillows is the quietest?? I am a mouth breather, and have not been able to break this habit, so I frequently waken with a verrrry dry mouth. But because I also waken in the night and have to take deep mouth breaths to rid the smothering feeling, I am afraid to tape. Maybe later. Afraid I'm not much help, but I do like the Swift. I am mostly a side sleeper but do sleep some on my back and even some on stomach. I have learned to change positions in the night mostly without leaks. But I am still waiting for the rested, non sleepy afternoons, non foggy, headache free mornings that treatment gives.

PRESENTLY: [Remstar Plus/C-flex with heated humidifier + Swift
