CPAP doesn't seem to be working right...I think...

Post by jhargus » Thu Dec 04, 2008 12:11 am

I've been on CPAP now for about 3 months, has been working great until recently. I have a remstar machine with a mirage quattro full face mask. My machine has a humidifier attached and about two weeks ago I began getting a flashing light on the humidifier. After troubleshooting it down to it not making a connection to my CPAP my provider replaced my humidifier. At the same time I was coming home from a trip to my parents house.

Since I got back and replaced my humidifier my mask doesn't seem to have the amount of pressure it did before. There aren't any noticeable leaks and air is blowing through. I noticed the auto start feature is no longer working was well, the machine used to start as soon as I put the mask over my face and took a deep breath. It also used to cut the pressure slightly when I would breathe out, now it seems the pressure stays the same or even increases on exhale. When I breathe in it feels like all the air is sucked out of the mask and there isn't enough pressure to open my air way or even breathe in comfortably.

I called the company that set me up with the machine (Apria) about three days ago and they haven't gotten back to me yet. I do also feel noticeably more tired the last few days and feel like I need more sleep than normal with my machine.

Does any one have any advice for me or know of a fix I can do without waiting for Apria?

What's the full name of your machine, jhargus? Most machines have the name written across the top. Please include every word written on top.... example: Respironics REMstar Plus M series.
ResMed S9 VPAP Auto (ASV)
Humidifier: Integrated + Climate Control hose
Mask: Aeiomed Headrest (deconstructed, with homemade straps
3M painters tape over mouth

I am thinking somehow the settings were changed on your machine. Do you know how to check?
S8 AutoSet II with H4i Humid, reader + software
M Series Auto w Aflex with HH, reader + software
IntelliPAP AutoAdjust with HH, reader + software
Mirage Liberty Full Face with Nasal Pillows and Head Gear
Pursleep, Pad A Cheeks~ :)
