PB GoodKnight 420E LCD display
PB GoodKnight 420E LCD display
I have the silverlining program but can't find to cable to hook it up to my laptop.
What sort of information can I get on the LCD screen and how do I get that info.?

Re: PB GoodKnight 420E LCD display
No treatment information from the LCD, only settings.
Get a serial to USB coverter cable and you will be able to use Silverlining even on a lapto that has no serial port.
Been there, done that, it works.

Re: PB GoodKnight 420E LCD display
My new doctor wants the settings but I wanted to provide him with more.
I found where I can order a new phone to serial cable without the software.
Then I will get the serial to USB elsewhere.
If you can tell me how to display the settings on the LCD display that would be great.
Thanks.

A long click on the ramp button (leftmost) will let you cycle through the settings.

Re: PB GoodKnight 420E LCD display
Newegg.com has them, they are very cheap, you need a USB to RS232 Serial port adapter.

I found some that didn't work (like the Belkin), most of them use the Prolific serial chip inside. Expect to spend
about $30 bucks for a good one.

Re: PB GoodKnight 420E LCD display
My new doctor asked what the setting were for my CPAP machine were.
Holding the leftmost button worked but the information is not very descriptive.
You get the lower number followed by the higher number for the CPAP range.
If you need to do this for your doctor, you may want to just copy everything down each time you press the button and it goes to the next screen.

You have to follow along carefully with the manual if you are going to program it via the LCD display, it is easy to confuse the symbols. Best way to gain information about the machine is with the Silverlining software.djv1255 wrote:My new doctor asked what the setting were for my CPAP machine were.

1. Silverlining requires a standard RS232 port on the computer to connect the PB cable to it. If your laptop is newer it probably doesn't have a DB-9 RS232 port at all. If that is the case, you need to get the USB-RS232 Adaptor I referenced above at newegg.com, you can also find one at Best Buy or Radio Shack. Just don't get a USB-PDA adapter those are not true RS232 and won't work.
2. Once you have a RS232 port on your laptop, then you need the special Modular-to-RS232 cable that plugs into the machine with a standard 4-wire telephone jack. IF you don't have this cable, you will need to obtain one, CPAP.COM has them under Software, Download cables:
3. The modular end plugs into the back of the machine, the DB-9 connector into the USB-to-RS-232 adaptor cable on your laptop.
Next, you just fire up the Silverling, select Bipap/CPAP connection, then from the menu Settings or Download data.
Machine gives a LOT of information from the reports, very easy to program from Silverlining.

Thanks, Snoredog
That is good info. for the next person searching for the info.
I tried ordering a replacement cable last night but CPAP.com and my MAC were not speaking to each other. I couldn't register so I could'nt order the cable.

No, I know SL3 won't run on a MAC except with a PC emulator.ozij wrote:Do you mean to run SL3 on your Mac?

I was trying to buy the replacement cable on CPAP.COM
I couldn't complete the purchase.
